Republicans can't stop talking about Obama during Trump's impeachment trial

One of the weirdest things that occurred was the Trump's team and Republicans alike, constantly bringing up the name of Barack Obama, even though the former president has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on.
---------
Things started with Pam Bondi and Eric Herschmann claiming that both Obama and Biden should be investigated for corruption, with Bondi adding that this was necessary as the charges against Trump, who had asked Ukraine to investigate Biden, were "baseless."

Herschmann then went on to read 'charges' against Obama and claimed that he had "undermined the integrity of the United States democratic process" and had engaged with a "quid pro quo" with the then president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev in 2012.
----------
Avella, who had been invited on to discuss the revelations about Trump's ties to Ukraine in John Bolton's book, bizarrely said that this trial will 'come at a cost to Democrats.'

Name another jury in America that gets to pick the process.

Senators are going to get to pick whether they witnesses or not. Let's just say this — if they do, President Obama, Andrew McCabe, the whistleblower, (Rep. Adam) Schiff, all better clear their schedules, because they ought to be asked to testify.

During the President’s defense today, we heard a lot about the process in the House, the Bidens, and even President Obama. With one day left in the defense's arguments, what we still haven't heard is a fact-based defense of the President's actions

"...Hillary," "Pelosi," and "Obama," are dog whistle words to the hateful right. I remember when I was living in Mississippi in 2014, and the local politicians would use Obama's image more than their own or their opponents' in order to attack each other.

The name "Obama" is synonymous with the "n word" for quite a few republicans. His name certainly galvanizes the same kind of hatefulness.

You can cause foaming at the mouth and enraged, incoherent squawking just by mentioning Hillary and Obama amongst otherwise sane RWingers.

Exactly! As Lyndon Johnson said,

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”
