"It's what's in the trunk".

Last edited Tue Jan 28, 2020, 04:52 PM - Edit history (1)

You may have heard someone ask---quite reasonably--- "Why can't the Congressional Republicans just admit they made a big mistake in supporting Trump and get rid of him so we can move on as a nation?"

This is similar, in my mind, to the occasional news story we see about a driver who, when a LEO attempted to pull them over for a minor traffic offense, sped away and eventually, after miles of high-speed chase and a shootout, was arrested for multiple felonies. His trunk, you see, was filled with either multiple duffel bags of hundred dollar bill's or dead bodies.

It wasn't the speeding ticket that they were running from; it was what they knew was in the trunk.

Mr. McConnell, Mr. Graham, Mr. Cotton---the others who continue to run from the truth about Trump---what's in your trunk?

By the time it all comes out, we'll either be a white supremacist oligarchy, or we will be in the process of taking back our republic.

My biggest concern is the massive, well-funded right-wing propaganda machine - AM talk radio, Fox, Breitbart and other right-wing sites, as well as the 'think tanks' who give these people their 'talking points.' Because even if we are successful at getting rid of Trump and his evil administration, this 'noise machine' will still be intact, and will still be well funded. What will we do about this without compromising the principle of free press? And how does the internet fit in?

Maybe pass a law like the one Canada has requiring any station that calls itself "News" can't tell lies. (I'm paraphrasing here) That's why Fox "News" doesn't broadcast in Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong here, people.

I personally think Putin has dirt on them he has shared with Trump and Trump is holding it over their heads. Specifically, McConnell, Rubio and Graham. For a lot of the others, they know Trump's a stink bomb, but their constituents support his agenda: get rid of brown, black people, no more immigrants, unless they have European ancestry and anti-abortion.

What did the others give him and what did the rest of the party receive? The Reptilian Party is bought and paid for to serve Putin and the Russian 1%.

Why did Paul Ryan and several others suddenly "retire" since 2016? Were they uncomfortable getting in over their heads with professional criminals (Capone had nothing on these guys)? Did they see this controversy hitting the fan some day? Do they see themselves living the next 30 years at country clubs, rather than in federal prisons, enjoying their pensions and Rolls Royce (not Cadillac) healthcare plans?

Did they recall the penalty for treason?

The entire party is held together by the dirt they have on one another.

Some of them are crooks, some of them are pedophiles, some of them are self-proclaimed fundamentalist Christians with sexual kinks they keep in the closet.

It's a system of Mutual Assured Destruction. One Republican won't reveal what's in another Republican's trunk because they've got something equally rotten in their own.

I look at some Republicans, Mike Pence for example, and think, "Jesus. I don't even want to know what's in that guy's trunk." I do know Pence wouldn't be Vice President if it wasn't something horrible.

Vladimir Putin, the greatest mob boss in history, figured it out right away.

Historically the American mafia had a similar hold on FBI director J. Edger Hoover.

This is spot on.

The RNC servers were also hacked, and I'll bet a good bit of dirt was uncovered, we just didn't hear about that.

This would likely pale in comparison:

I cannot imagine living your life with "whatever" hanging over your head.

Please not that I said ALMOST. Whatever it is, if Lindsey had just come out and told the world his big secret when Trump cornered him on the golf course, it would all be gone by now. And if it is something really vile, well the, it's time to take your medicine Lindsey.

Could it be on the server where the transcript of the "perfect phone call" is secured with a highly encrypted and inappropriate top secret designation? Is there a better place to store the RNC hack materials than there?

I suppose the only person who could verify that just might be the former head of the NSC. If only he were called as a witness, someone could ask the question. Hmmm.

Because the crazies kicked down the basement door and took over their house decades ago. They are a subsidiary of the religious right, not the other way around. If they cross Trump, he yells and their careers are over.

If only we could follow ALL the money...... Has to be much more than just sexual affairs or wordy-durdy stuff they said on the TeeVee.

They've all been brainwashed to never, never admit fault or criticize another Rethug. They also all believe that if they toe the line through their time in office, they're guaranteed a cushy job in the right-wing sphere for the rest of their lives.
