Bolton isn't someone I admire or agree with, but I think he's a by-the-book guy and does not approve of Trump's flagrant shredding of the Constitution. Plus he has an ax to grind. Trump fired him, he's gonna get revenge for it.

Rethug Senate Game Plan is acquit at all cost and then do a Classified Hearing later in February. They,meaning the Rethugs,need Trumps State of the Union to go off without a hitch. Just another smash in Speaker Pelosi's face.
