Do they do that? No. They're not plotting at Camp David on how to avoid the Big Depression. After all, they don't have to worry. They're probably plotting their election strategy.

They could have produced masks for everyone. More for the hospitals. Everything Trump touches dies. Now, our economy is dying. And, instead of producing and making available the items that people need to have to feel safe, they spend their time threatening Governors, trying to muscle the people back to work, and encouraging unsafe practices for a situation that will be long term, not short term.

They could have invented new programs, schedules, and ways of doing things where we could have bought into them. Provide even more stimulus money to have businesses call the workers back, with plenty of incentives to get back to normal: proper protection, different schedules (maybe two on, two off??) new training programs, ways to earn federal bonus money...But all they can think of is how to scrape money off the government for themselves.
