His fight against Meldrick Taylor was amazing. If you have never seen it you can watch it on youtube. People at work argued with me that Taylor got robbed because the ref stopped the fight with a few seconds left in the fight. I told them, one more punch may have killed Taylor.

Taylor was an Olympic champion, undefeated as a pro. He was younger than Chavez and much faster. If I remember correctly, Chavez was undefeated, 80 something wins.

Chavez had trouble with Taylor's speed, Taylor was ahead on points, however Chavez kept on coming, kept on landing hard punches. Around the ninth, tenth round I noticed there wasn't a mark on Chavez's face. Taylors entire face was starting to swell. By the last round he looked like he had been beaten with a bag of nickels.

Chavez caught Taylor with a couple of big punches with about 15 seconds left in the fight. He went down hard. He got up, Looked to his corner as the ref was looking at him, the ref stopped the fight.

Come to find out, Taylor had lost a lot of blood from a cut is his month and I believe his eye socket was fractured. Taylor was only 21 years old and he had a very bright future a head of him. It ended that night at the hands of Chavez, he was never the same fighter again. In his prime I have never seen a better fighter than Julio Cesar Chavez.
