Top Republican fundraiser and Trump ally named postmaster general, giving president new influence over Postal Service

The Postal Services Board of Governors confirmed late Wednesday that Louis DeJoy, a North Carolina businessman who is currently in charge of fundraising for the Republican National Convention in Charlotte, will serve as the new postmaster general.
The action will install a stalwart Trump ally to lead the Postal Service, which he has railed against for years, and likely move him closer than ever before to forcing the service to renegotiate its terms with companies and its own union workforce. Trumps Treasury Department and the Postal Service are in the midst of a negotiation over a $10 billion line of credit approved as part of coronavirus legislation in March.
Postal workers are the heart and soul of this institution, and I will be honored to work alongside them and their unions, DeJoy, who will start June 15, said in a statement.
This scares the bejeezus outta me!

(12,712 posts)Isn't that always the case as per Carson, DeVoss, etc.? DeJoy and DeVoss, how funny.
We should expect it. The coup is going from slow-motion to instantaneous, play-by-play as we speak. It is an attempt to completely take over and it seems to be working.
Sounds like Federal Quid Pro Quo is the way things go from now on.
Anybody uncertain about what tRump is going to do before the General Election, and the GOP for that matter?

(8,834 posts)There goes any hope that voting by mail will not be compromised. Millions of ballots will end up in Newmans appartment. We all deserve to die for letting the country get here. A waste of all the lives that ever died in wars for this country. Payback for dishonoring their sacrifice. I am disgusted to have served, and the 98 percent that do not serve, gave us this in return.

(22,280 posts)and not just at the PO, but banks, libraries etc.. Gathering ballots from the drop boxes would be a great alternative to my normal poll working job. I will have to get more details from her, but I think I read that another of the vote by mail states has a seperate system for the ballots.

(8,834 posts)I hope we can vote in confidence. As a Vietnam era Vet that had no right to vote, I tend to want to kick the ass of someone that would not serve, that now wants to destroy my earned right to vote after serving in that damn war. My hate for this asshole is equal to the hate of those wanting to kill me and my fellow servicemen. He should be treated as equal an enemy to the men and women of this country. Him and his cult.
