Every morning, right after wishing the very worst for Chump and Pence, I think about who it might be! When, oh when, will we know?

(54,448 posts)Why should Biden tip his hand now? Give the Republicans time to look for the next Tara Reade to "come forward" with some made-up dirt on whomever it is he decides to pick? What for? Keep 'em guessing, I say!
Interestingly enough, a Republican strategist approached me in December asking for my prediction for the Democratic ticket. After my astonished, "why in the world are you asking ME??" she just gave me a small sly smile and repeated her question. She knew who my preference had been (Jay Inslee), and that there was no way I would get who I wanted. This was also way before Biden had made any pledges about the gender of his running mate. Hell, in December, few thought Joe Biden would even have a campaign staff after March.
Anyway, I did give her my prediction, based on how the landscape looked to me at the time. She gave me a "I guess that's as good a guess as any" look and walked away.

(54,448 posts)I refused to even join the primaries board until a day before it gave up its last gasp. Just too many people doing a REALLY poor job at trying to contort their preferences into objective opinions, and most failing miserably.
Ever since Biden clinched the nomination, the same kind of nastiness has invaded this board, with people getting all kinds of angry and nasty, explaining why THEIR preference is the logical option, and everyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot for thinking so.
Therefore, besides the fact that whatever my personal assessment may have been last December really won't carry any weight anywhere or with anyone, I'll leave what I said for future reference. It doesn't really matter one whit now.
However, in fairness to your curiosity, I'll send you a PM with what I told the Republican strategist. After all, she did ask nicely--something plenty of people on this board seem to have forgotten how to do .

(7,239 posts)Read David McCulloughs book Truman.
Then read Robert Cairos book The Passage of Power.
Find the sections on Truman suddenly president when FDR died - during a world war - and LBJ suddenly president after an assassination. And note the UNBELIEVABLE challenges both faced in an instant!
Made a believer out of me. A 72-year old with medical problems, John McCain, picking Miss Five/Colleges scared the crap out of me.
And Biden, if elected, will be 78 on Inauguration Day!!! Thats old.

(6,283 posts).... just as I have made known who I believe would be a bad choice, and given reasons for my opinion. Let's just say, that not one person has challenged or questioned those reasons. I do not become openly angry if anyone disagrees with my logic. That's one opinion I'll keep to myself.
