wash your hands after using the bathroom? That's a public health issue, too. I have no way of knowing before I shake your hand that you might have shit on it, so I have to trust that you did wash up. If you're walking around without a mask (BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT ISN'T THE BOSS OF ME AND I'M NOT A P*SSY LIKE YOU LIBS) I have no way of knowing whether you've got covid-19, either. You could have shit on your hand or viruses in your breath. If you think it's a good thing that people wash their hands after taking a dump because shit can spread disease, why is wearing a mask to prevent the spread of a deadly virus a bad thing?
If anyone ever gives me a hard time about wearing a mask, I will try to remember to ask them if also they don't wash their hands after taking a shit.

It's so ingrained that guys on the golf course shake hands after a round (as a team) even though they played together yesterday & and will do it again tomorrow.
It's a tired formality.
Like you, I'm hoping it goes away for a while. Permanently would be OK by me!

(4,999 posts)Washing hands mainly protects the person who washed their hands from getting ill.
All those covidiots protesting without a mask, I'll bet almost 100% wear a seat belt when they drive, because it protects them and they know it.
Wearing a (non-n95) mask protects others in society more than the wearing. They just can't be inconvenienced for the abstract idea that in a mature society we all do things to protect the other person, which in turn protects ourselves. That's just too many dots for the selfish brain to connect.

(16,334 posts)and thought are there really people who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom to the point you must demand it from the employees?
Well, I was naive. There are plenty of people who don't wash up in a bathroom.
I haven't been in a public restroom in a while so I wonder if this has changed or will change.
