Published 1 min ago on May 14, 2020

The White House has finally crafted a pandemic playbook, according to Kayleigh McEnany, who announced it on the lawn Thursday. But over the past three years, no one has heard anything about it.
McEnany said that the Obama Administrations report that was handed to the Trump White House when they entered in 2017 was superseded by another report that was crafted in Aug. 2019.
So, I guess theyre making the argument that everything theyve implemented is part of a pandemic plan they put together last August? asked MSNBC host Chuck Todd.
Which we have never heard of, Chuck, said NBC News reporter Shannon Pettypiece. And Im, obviously, still looking into this and so are my colleagues. Weve never heard of any pandemic preparedness plan. This was the first time they are mentioning it that she brought out these binders. Were going to try to find more details. It seems unusual that here we are in mid-may that theyd now start talking about what their preparedness plan was.

Five words will be changed on each page so they can't claim it was just Obama's Pandemic Playbook.

(2,252 posts)No one will ever see this playbook.
It's just mentioned.
A binder is waved around as "proof."
All to get through the next 24 hours.
Deplorables will swear its real, because, to them, saying it's so, makes it so.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Put it in the dust bin with the other 18,000 Trump lies.

(37,163 posts)As silly as phrasing it like that was, he probably did have career summaries and bios for post candidates in a binder for his review.
This is just hot air. Anything g they wave around will just be a prop.

(13,634 posts)even mentioning the "playbook". Just one. Anything. We'll wait.
I just watched Dr. Strangelove again recently. That reminds me of the scene where Dr. Strangelove asks, "what is the point of a deterrent, if you keep it secret?" Or something real close to that.
Unless the playbook was instructions to deny, then lie to and manipulate your followers, promote snake oil cures, manipulate the markets, tip off your investor buddies on upcoming announcements, profiteer and loot as much as possible. Did I leave anything out? A playbook outlining those moves I would believe. I doubt they could show they even had that documented before today.

(17,672 posts)I wonder if it suggested that 85,000 deaths in a couple of months was a considered big success? Too much of those kinds of successes could be painful. Trump stumbled his way through this whole process from two weeks to a month behind. Now he is trying to make up for it by getting it a month or two ahead.
Trump's motto must be, "If there is a way to fuck something up, I will find it."
