A HERETIC I AM
(24,380 posts)One of the most sublimely hilarious comedy bits ever to come out of Second City Television.
John Candy was a comedy genius and left us way too early, and Eugene Levy continues to be as funny as he ever was in every single thing he participates in.
This is their appearance on David Lettermen In 1985 and it just kills me;

(63,221 posts)"The Last Polka" is one of my personal cult collection films. I have a friend and she and I have been calling each other "Schmenge" ever since we saw this movie together. It cracks me up!
I miss John Candy too! He was one of the greats!
A HERETIC I AM
(24,380 posts)It is one of those bits that grew to have a life of its own, well past its origins.
The voice affectations, the silliness and dammit...the music! It all blended so well.
John Candy was just so funny, I think. Uncle Buck, Spaceballs, Planes Trains and Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, Stripes, etc. etc.
His contributions to movie comedy can not be underestimated.
His collaboration with Levy as The Schmenge Brothers just had legs, if you know what I mean, and they executed it superbly.

A HERETIC I AM
(24,380 posts)A series on Netflix, with Eugene Levy and fellow SCTV alum, Catherine OHara.
Ive only gotten through the first few episodes of season one, but it is VERY funny.

(8,352 posts)And hope he wins and wins big. There is an independent expenditure group that is going to hopefully pour 4 million into the race
All that said, I dont think Grahams net worth is anyplace close to 20 million. He is always in the bottom half of senate wealth.
He is a bachelor, never had to worry about daycare, college tuition, kids expenses , family health insurance. He should probably be worth more than he is. keeping the call boys quiet must be expensive.
