The x axis was set up that way to show descending values to more easily demonstrate peak values and counties on those dates. Our mission failed. We apologize. It is fixed.
Ha Ha. Classic manipulation of data - otherwise known as "lying with statistics." Messing with the x axis to skew data is a researcher no-no. Graduate students have been failed and professors have been fired for less.

While I have heard and read that this quote is attributed to Mark Twain/Sam Clemens it's not from him.
He used it in a book from 1907 but we may never know who originated this quote.
