Quinnipiac National Poll: Biden 50 / Trump 39

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump 50 - 39 percent in a head-to-head matchup in the election for president, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll of registered voters released today. That's up from the 49 - 41 percent lead Biden held in an April 8th national poll, but the change is within the margin of error. Democrats go to Biden 88 - 5 percent, Republicans go to Trump 87 - 8 percent, and independents go to Biden 47 - 36 percent.

If this continues and Trump doesn't think he has a chance of winning the election, things will get really crazy.

I doubt the man/child will win more than a handful of states.

I'm looking for their push to ban mail-in ballots and the accompanying extortion of blue and competitive states starting now.

Clearly, what he's doing right now is working because he's obliterating Trump in poll after poll.

Obviously how the moron has handled it has been disastrous.

But, equally important it has sucked the air out of 45s attempts to dirty Joe up.

He has tried to get some things going, but where as the media EAGERLY eats up republican slander of Ds, they are focused so much on the Pandemic they just don't have the time to get into their normal MO of trying to help slag the D to make it a horse race.

So while Joe is not "out there" campaigning, honestly that is a good trade off for his not taking any bullets.

My concern is if we get to the point where C-19 cools off or the deaths become normalized and the media gets bored with it, they will start giving 45s bullshit more air.

The reason Hillary lost, the reason Gore and Kerry lost was the negative campaigning, people buying the Rs bullshit.

21. Hillary also lost due to really poor campaign strategy

State level party officials were sounding the alarm in the rust belt a month prior to the election. Hillary's campaign ignored them and tried for the knockout, in particular trying to flip NC.

PA, MI, and WI were all very narrow margins, and probably could have been avoided with a better run campaign.

Wed May 20, 2020, 02:52 PM
May 2020

He won't quit. He wouldn't want that. He'll announce that he isn't running and he'll throw his support behind Mike Pence, mainly because Mike Pence will issue him a full pardon if he wins. Republicans will have little choice because Trump will threaten to sink any other nominee.

Trump's back up plan will be to resign in November if Pence loses to get his pardon. He'll say, Mike should have won the election. This is the least I can do.

The reason he'll quit is that he can't stand the thought of losing to Biden. In his mind that would be worse than anything.

Then he gets his pardon and can go off to do Trump TV.

We all hope for a landslide, but as the election gets closer, the numbers, unfortunately, get tighter. Personally, I hope he gets trounced, but it’s way to early to rest easy. They haven’t begun their cheating ways yet.

In this era of 24 hour news cycles, cable news and social media, people are constantly being bombarded with information. Things could change somewhat, but I don't think it is the same as the past.

If he is leading handily in states like Florida and Arizona, and competitive in Georgia, it would make sense that he has a double digit lead nationally. Even Rasmussen has Biden leading by 5 pts.

13. Scary part or maybe it is just selective sample bias
Wed May 20, 2020, 03:18 PM
May 2020

The SCARY part here is that 87% of Republicans still plan to vote for Trump.

Maybe some of the more rational parts of the (R) party now considr themelves independent or just won't respond to the calls.

I know we ignore any caller ID that says des Moines on it as a poll about the Senate race or some candidates people wanting to talk me up or slander another Democrat.

We have to fight like we are losing until every ballot is not just cast but ACTUALLY COUNTED -- we can't let Kavanaugh and bros pull the same Scalia lie and not count votes like they did in Ohio and Florida to elect W.

That means for every 100 Republicans that vote, 13 of them either crossing party lines to vote for Biden or they're voting third party.

Biden will likely get 95+ of the Democratic vote, and then win independents and moderates. Trump's only chance is a massive Republican turnout and if he only gets 87 percent of registered republicans who cast a vote, that's a major problem for him.

He may not pay attention to much but he's always been obsessed with poll numbers. And right now? The numbers are against him and the crooked horse he rode in with.

Keep those numbers solid, Joe! Any number at 50% and above is sweet, sweet news.

We need to kick the thug in the White House to the moon and beyond.
