2 p.m. update
Walt Disney World, the Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld will deliver reopening presentations to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force on Thursday.

My guess? Back-to-school time in August
My original guess, when we were first furloughed, was not til after Labor Day

Those places are packed to the gills in normal times. Even at 50% they will not be able to operate with distancing.
I think 25% would still be a stretch.

(53,342 posts)My guess is certain attractions wont be open either: like those with large seating for shows

(16,508 posts)One of the things that keeps me away from Disney is the brutal heat-crowd combo in FL.

(5,544 posts)After my last experience, I just don't want to do it anymore.
It was just crowded beyond being able to actually participate in many of the features. There were some of the rides that were already out of FastPass reservations before the park even opened. What the fuck am I paying for if you have let in too many people to actually use the place.

(16,508 posts)About 7 years ago we were at Hollywood Studios one late afternoon-early evening and there was a monsoon that swamped the park. It cleared out almost completely but we hung around, which was worth it. Because for a magical hour or so after the rain stopped we more or less had the place to ourselves. I rode the Star Wars ride 4 times in a half hour. Walk on, ride, walk off and walk on again.
But yeah most of the time its the 7th circle of hell.

(4,613 posts)it was Easter Sunday and had been raining all day. Park was virtually empty when I got there mid-afternoon and stayed that way.

(5,544 posts)You know back when they were an actual brewery.
You can get more done in 2 hours in an empty park than you can all day in a full one.
The only thing I have ever seen that is close for Disney is the specialty nights like "Not so Scary Halloween". Technically they open at 7 but they will actually let you in at 4:30. Meanwhile they are escorting everyone else out. There is about an hour of low use that actually makes it worth it. Otherwise, miserable.

(15,090 posts)...theyre likely to have to close again with a second wave.

(16,508 posts)From Disney blog community and online forums (which are overrun with MAGA RWNJs) is that it will be sometime in July. Disney is taking resort reservations from July 1, apparently.

(5,544 posts)Without the northerners and foreign tourists, who wants to go there then anyway.

(53,342 posts)Some obsessed people in there
And also a lack of forethought and thinking
People post stuff like my reservation is week of June 10 and they havent canceled it yet. They must be getting ready to open!
Theyre worthless unless its a quote from a Disney exec from a reputable news site
Example:
Disney World Only Accepting Reservations for June 1 or Later

(36,747 posts)Stay home.
If you go, you should be under mandatory quarantine for 14 days when you get back. This is to prevent a second wave in our state.

(15,090 posts)She and her husband went to dinner at the newly-opened Disney Springs tonight. She texted me pictures of people hanging out with no masks. If Disney cant enforce masks in a small area on opening day, they sure cant enforce masks in a theme park.
