NM County Commissioner "The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat"

This is 'my' County Commissioner, leader of 'Cowboys for Trump.' What made it worse is that he said this at a church.

"Is the only good Democrat a dead Democrat?

That's what Otero County's District 2 Commissioner Couy Griffin alleged at a May 17 gathering in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

"I've come to a place where I've come to the conclusion that the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat," he said to a crowd gathered in Sierra County.

Griffin clarified moments later that he meant a political death - as a opposed to a physical death, but his prior statements received cheers from the crowd before the clarification...."

Griffin Seeks Otero County Commission District 2 Seat

ALAMOGORDO – Couy Griffin believes his experience as pastor of the New Heart Church in Alamogordo will help him administer the needs of the county.

Griffin, a Republican, is running against Democrat Christopher Jones for the District 2 Otero County Commission seat in the November general election.

“Most of my morals and principles do come from my faith,” he said.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A popular Silver City restaurant is facing backlash after announcing it will defy the governor's public health order, and open.

The owner of Jalisco Café posted a banner outside his restaurant that said, "Dining Room Open" and "Let's get rid of Wuhan Lujan."

After initially saying he would talk with KOB 4 about his decision to reopen, he backtracked and said he was going to talk with an attorney.

The state suspended the food service permits for two restaurants that defied the state’s public health order and allowed dine-in service.

The state Environment Department made the announced Friday afternoon.

The two restaurants are Jalisco Cafe in Silver City and Anaheim Jacks in Ruidoso. The department cited a portion of the Food Service and Sanitation Act that states, the department can suspend a license if “conditions within a food service establishment present a substantial danger of illness, serious physical harm or death to consumers who might patronize the food service establishment.”

If the restaurants continue to serve food, the department warned that they could legally pursue civil penalties in state district court of $500 per person.

Our county is especially Republican, by almost 2 to 1 (twice as many registered Republicans as Democrats).
I thank God for the North! And our wonderful Democratic Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham.

I canvassed for Xochitl a lot last election...and I'm running so that I can give her more votes. Research shows that running for a local office provides more votes 'up ballot'...and I'm running to help Xochilt and Biden.

But the local Republicans and the state Republicans say nothing about wishing death to Democrats by an elected official. I'm grateful the Young Republicans of New Mexico came out with a strong statement opposing this kind of language.
