1. Just awful

I come from a family with several law enforcement officers in it. This has got to stop.

And I am done hearing about how this is a "few bad apples." It's a system that is broken. The use of overwhelming force every arrest is being trained into officers. These holds are wrong, they should not be trained. Kneeling on someone is never a safe way to restrain someone.

And more than just their training, the system of reporting and being held accountable has to be completely revamped. It's totally out of wack right now or this wouldn't keep happening.

2. I am curious, why did several of your family members choose law enforcement?

It's pretty low wage these days. The system is definitely broken. Not so much a great or noble occupation anymore.

Most probably wanted to make a difference, one though, my brother in law, is just an asshole and loves the power trip he gets. Regularly posts on Facebook on the way to work that he's looking forward to ruining someone's day today.

I know enough cops, sure, the majority are good guys, but the minority is not a small minority, there's a ton of cops out there who get off on the power and like to mess with people.

But the mayor called in the FBI very quick. What I hear is that the union is going to come out hard in support once the body cam video is released.

This is going to be a mess.

Most likely anyone willing to be video'd doing this is someone who's environment has normalized this behavior

I knew a few of them some years ago - those particular cops are probably retired now but it doesn't seem like much has changed.

is that backup when to crowd control. They are upset with command for keeping the officer on his own so long.
From what I was able o glean from them is the body cams are going to make this a long term problem as it will give those who are inclined to defend the police a way to demonize the man who died.

As one cop said to me it will be an even bigger sh&t show when the jury acquits.
