(58,785 posts)Btw, Frank Figliuzzi, ex- head of FBI counterintelligence spoke of violent agitators, a small but dangerous number. Renegade police would know of them in general and be on their side.
Btw, I thought it was interesting when he mentioned a billiard ball in a sock (weapon of course) as a "technique for global anarchists." Thus an identifier. A lot of the RW "nationalist" movement is actually about destroying existing nations to establish an international white order.
Uhuh. But it brought Steve Bannon, Steve Miller etc. to mind, and Trump, and then of course Putin. We're going to have to smash his plans specifically and put him back in his little Russian box.

I asked both of them WHY they even wanted to be cops? I said they'd probably be hated by a lot of people, and they'd often see so much ugliness too. I thought it was bad enough that I was in QC, and I was often despised for just doing my job, but it was like I was the dreaded "quality police" that made their mistakes known by management.
They both said they just wanted to "help people". I didn't believe them for a second, based on their very unhelpful and bullying attitudes that I had witnessed at that company.

(51,771 posts)They know that is what they need to say to pass the psych portion of the entrance exam.
I knew two people before they became cops. A man and a woman. Neither was motivated by helping people. One loved guns and being in charge of people. The other just hated most people and wanted to put everyone in jail.

(783 posts)Its all about getting the power they crave. They know they can pretty much do anything when that badge goes on and their fellow officers and the courts will have their backs. They also are the types who think respect is owed to them without earning it. The whole police culture is disturbing beyond belief.

(14,858 posts)The younger guy seemed a little more genuine about it, but he was a "problem employee" in several ways. A forklift driver who was often missing when needed. He might be the type who eats a bunch of donuts and takes his sweet time actually responding to a call for help. Lol.
The other guy seemed like he'd TRY to create problems, and that's worse.
There needs to be a lot more personality screening, in my opinion. If it means fewer cops, so be it. Quality over quantity.

(43,636 posts)coppers in the nation from all that I have seen over the years. Brutal violent racist thugs. For each great thing the department does (like 9/11) there seems to be 10 or more fucked up things they do. They almost always start from an ultra-aggressive, pro-actively hostile, smash heads stance.
