This is going around the rumor mill. I have no idea if it's true. I am not a teacher or connected to NYC public ed.
The rumor is that NYC teachers might be out of a job if they don't go back to school in September. "Get resumes ready and take first job you find." They don't need as many teachers if they go remote. "Potentially catastrophic cuts."

(3,769 posts)Your rowdy kids aren't sitting right next to their friends. And they aren't distracting the whole class. I bet administrators are thinking teachers could handle larger classes online. Not saying that's necessarily true. But it could be the thinking.

(3,769 posts)I'm thinking that if they are going with half the students coming in on some days and the other half coming in on other days, they probably won't need as many substitute teachers in my district here in Texas, if they don't go completely remote.
