A Scold of Karens. That's what the women were called.

It's kind of clever in a dumb sort of way.

We were the ones asking for people to please not set off fireworks for days and hours around the 4th.

The dumb sort of answer we got was loosen up, have fun. The dogs will survive.

Being the Scolding Old LADY KAREN I am I pointed out (very politely) that a lot of the dogs don't survive.

And the next really really rude comment was to just shut up about it. There were a lot more important things going on than fireworks . Probably referring to our impending loss of freedom over wearing masks in public

I don't have a gun to pull out and point at stupid people like some Scolds have but a water gun would have been good.

Just enough to set off the dog—a few pops every 45 minutes or so. Last night a few more than that. This immature behavior will continue for at least two weeks past the 4th. I need to use a combo of CBD oil, Rx meds from the vet, and a sound machine to get the pup through this.

And for the first time today in almost two weeks, my husband was not the only one out this morning wearing a mask. Maybe people are finally getting it, that when it comes to re-opening, COVID says, have at it, suckers.

As for the water pistol, she might call the cops on you!

Play with. They completely soak the other person.

Our fireworks last were bad until about midnight. Where do people buy those M100's. I am oretty sure it's illegal for the regular tents to sell anything like that. Fireworks are illegal in KCMO but not in all the little towns around us. The fireworks laws are impossible to enforce.

The really had thing is getting the dogs out to pee. Zeke a absolutely refuses to go out for hours. I finally got him out at about 3 am. The ither 2 aren't quite so bad but they won't go out until it's quiet for a while.

My living room floor is covered wuth potty pads.

Here in my state, firecrackers are just plain illegal. So people make the pilgrimage to the fireworks stands right on the opposite side of the state border to get the finger-removers.

Of course, if you're caught with them here, it's a $1,000 fine, a court summons (yes, you actually have to explain yourself to a judge) and a misdemeanor on your record.

White Women Behaving Badly?

Of course, a flock of crows is called a murder. If you've heard a few hundred crows squawking, you'd want to murder them too....

We just were giving our opinions mostly about how awful fireworks are for dogs and other animals.

The term Karen is starting to mean any woman stating how she feels or standing her ground.

Starting to really piss me off.

Honestly I think those crazy white women are just plain crazy. Normal people don't rant and rave and wave guns around like that.

I have a customer that does stuff like that. She carries a 9mm pistol on her pocket and she is very in your face.
She wants everyone to do things the way she wants.
She is very insecure abd paranoid. She has like 3 locks on every door and cameras abd lights everywhere.

I am not sure what you call it but it's certainly not normal.

Fireworks does not do a damn thing. I mean, are we talking about dogs barking cause noise? Or shaking in fear? Cause I do not see it.

every 4th, family gathering, BBQ, pool, then late night with fireworks. What is not to be excited about, the best. 5 minutes in, I was bringing him in the house, sittin at a table away from the noise and put sculpting clay in his hands and just chat with him. I certainly understand the issue, especially with the post below giving a description of the dogs experience. Interesting. Go into a calm room and soothe. Most of these dogs will take the soothing.

But my larger one is absolutely terrified.

She shakes, paces, yawns, pants, tries to hide in the closet, under the bed, in the bathroom, anywhere.

I'm trying a new medication this weekend, along with a thunder shirt. It's awful to see.

way being so small and had to get bravo and bark at it all. Who knows, lol. Ya. My is 25lb. Those big ones are really the emotional ones, I have found. Such lovers and cuddlers. Sensitive. Especially golden and labs... but especially golden. Such full emotional dogs, which is just a gift.

sensitive . But I have taken care of lots of other breeds that are too. It's really bad if the dogs are big because they can do a lot of damage. They will tear thru doors. They will jump out windows. One I knew tore through a screened in porch and jumped from the 3rd floor. They will tear their paws up trying to dig out. It can get really serious. And once outside they just run because they are terrified.

One of my dogs died in a thinderstorm. His heart gave out. He had clawed all the window sills and pulled over all the book cases.

Now I use drugs. I don't mess with it.

So who knows what trauma she's endured.

I had two large dogs before, and they were afraid of loud noises too.

The little ones don't bark at the noises, basically ignore it, but you might have something there. I adopted them as babies, so they've never known a day of doubt in their little fuzzy lives. But they don't like seeing her afraid.

Anyway, I dread this weekend.

Dogs demonstrate their fears in a variety of ways, such as running or pacing around the house, trembling, barking, whining, soiling the premises, digging at the door or destroying their human’s things. In extreme cases, dogs have even jumped out of windows or have choked to death when tied up outdoors. Other dogs may instead show more subtle signs of their distress, such as licking their lips or drooling. Some dogs even become catatonic.
