GOP scrambling to pay for Jacksonville convention after Trump yanked it from North Carolina: report

Heh

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/gop-scrambling-to-pay-for-jacksonville-convention-after-trump-yanked-it-from-north-carolina-report/

Snip

According to a report from the New York Times, Republican officials are having difficulties getting donors to pay for the Republican National Convention to be held in Jacksonville, Florida after Donald Trump yanked the gathering out of Charlotte, North Carolina in a fit of pique over COVID-19 health restrictions.

At issue, the report notes, is that millions of dollars were spent in North Carolina where a smaller event will now be held, and now the party is, in essence, forced to pay for a second convention....

According to the report, “Organizers are trying to assuage vexed Republicans who collectively gave millions of dollars for a Charlotte event that has mostly been scrapped. The host committee there has spent virtually all of the $38 million it raised before the convention was moved, leaving almost nothing to return to donors, or to pass on to the new host city.”

Fear of funding a convention that could contribute to the COVID-19 spread is weighing heavily on some donors who are taking a wait-and-see approach before writing another check.

Are they struggling with. Their election accounts are stoked with hundreds of millions, and like last night, we tax payers are paying for his KKKlan Jamboree rallies. Just like last night. Why the hell are taxpayers paying for racist KKKlan rallies that are supported by a few idiots that dwell in the bowels of our society? Fuck this whole shit show of everything tied to anything trump. Independence Day will need to be moved to January 2021 inauguration. If we are alive or even a country, Putin willing.

The convention was still months away and they had already spent $83 million dollars on something that hadn't happened yet.

$83 million dollars. How the hell do you spend that much money for an event months away?

That never happened?

There should have been plenty of time to get deposits back and they couldn't have spent more than a couple of months putting things together, and how many people would that take, maybe 25 people for 3 months at $6,000 each on average...that's only $450,000.

Hopefully someone is following the money here as there is some obvious fraud occurring in this number.

No wonder the donors don't want to give more money.

They saw what he was. They knew what he was. Even as late as the RNC in 2016, their modern equivalent of the cigar-chomping powers-that-be in the smoke-filled back rooms could have disqualified him as a candidate.

But noooo. They thought they could profit from this *hole. They dreamed of a 100% conservative SCOTUS. They thought they could control this monster, and it turned out they could not.

Then last year the Democratic House under Nancy Pelosi handed him off to the GOP Senate on a godsdamn silver platter, and they still chose to keep him.

Let him decide he doesn’t like JAX and pick some other unlucky town. I hope he ends up bankrupting the GOP. It’s morally bankrupt as it is. But I hope Trump just takes it all down in smoking ruins.

And Joe Biden out-raised him last month, too!

Just proves republi-CONS don’t know anything about wise planning and expenditure of public money. And that IS public money. It comes from donations if you follow the money trail.
