(12,319 posts)This was an event that ranked as high in American History as the Bowling Green Masacre.

(16,916 posts)If we're to follow historical actions regarding symbols of the despised leaders:
Just as the colonists went into Boston Harbor and threw a shipment of tea into the harbor's waters (and yes, they were allegedly "disguised" as "native Americans" - we have a group of "concerned citizens" disguised as KGB agents and hijack a DIET COKE shipment and dump it all into a water hazard at Mar-A-Lago?
Wouldn't that be "patriotic?"

(16,916 posts)And your post name: "IronLionZion" - I know from following "Trumpsters" that there's a message in that - the "IRONY" of your post - I GET IT!!!!!
YES, we NEED Bin Laden statues, as well as ones of Rudy Guiliani, Michael Cohen, Bill Barr (well, he's almost one already anyhow), Mike Pence (white marble only, please....), and a publicly-funded statue of BunkerBoy - all of them showing how our fearless leaders have given so much (but we'll never know because of, well, you know, tax audits and stuff) to keep us safe and make us "Great Again!"

(16,916 posts)Wonder how many have been so inspired by Marley - and we KNOW how so many would NOT understand.
MY point about the "name" Iron Lion Zion was, to me, seeing "code" (more to follow) that "believers" find in such obscure settings.
I had just read this Vanity Fair piece about BunkerBoy's "event" in the Black Hills and it was about followers of IQ45.
THEY see messages in places where most don't (me included).
SO, trying to do THEIR thing, that's where I found "Irony" in your post. I really didn't believe it but it did lead to a way to take your post and make it even more meaningful!
Thanks for the information - I, too, appreciate the "simpler way" - and here's the extended article about those digging SO deep to find a way to explain their "love" for IQ45:

(9,637 posts)As for taking down a statue, the only one nearby is one of Lawrence Welk.
Now, he did foist accordion music upon us. But I don't think that's any reason to take down his statue.

(1,529 posts)....here on DU, but I do remember a few arguments about bagpipes in the past. For the record, I like accordions. My Slovenian uncle played one and was quite good. Also for the record, I noticed your spelling of "accordion", checked it and found that I should go back and correct my post which had misspelled it twice.
Dem2theMax
(9,637 posts)I'm just teasing about the accordions. My parents watched Lawrence Welk every Saturday night. I had to watch Myron Floren playing the accordion. It's one of my childhood memories that will never go away. Try as I might. LOL!
I didn't spell 'accordion.' The phone did. I dictate into the phone because I have arthritic fingers, and I gave up trying to text with my hands. It's great for the hands, but horrible for my brain. I'm forgetting how to spell everything!

(18,472 posts)Accordions are pretty excellent too- hard to polka without one.

(9,637 posts)Thank you for posting it.
And it's very true, you cannot polka without accordions. And I love to polka, although I haven't done it in a while.

And you are welcome. YouTube is wonderful for finding talent you never would have known existed otherwise. If it wasn't for YouTube I would never have heard of, let alone become a huge fan of Mongolian folk metal

One of North Dakota's "claim-to-fame" is that Lawrence Welk was from there.

(15,373 posts)Counterpoint: But doesn't this explain why during last year's 4th of July address, Trump talked about the American army taking control of airports from British forces?
Surely that must be the reason he said something as stupid as that.

GAWD, those wars are SO easy to confuse - but thank GAWD we have a stable genius in charge to keep us correct!
Good thing we don't have any confusion regarding the submarine that Ben Franklin was on when he flew the kite

(9,637 posts)I have a raging sinus infection or a tooth infection, and I am not feeling well. I will give myself 10 points if I can remember my own name right now.
MyOwnPeace
(16,916 posts)you get 20 points!
However, I may get into trouble throwing around points - BunkerBoy may want "bonus points" just for remembering who he is! After all, he's the genius with the amazing brain, right?

(9,637 posts)I don't think he would know who he was if he looked in the mirror. Especially after that rambling speech? he did today.
I don't wish health issues on anyone, but he's ready for the rubber room. Or some kind of room. Any room that's not in the White House.

(16,916 posts)As to your kindness regarding "health issues" - I refer you to another great American, Mark Twain:
I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.
I know you're not talking about "dead man walking" - but, just looking ahead.....
