(25,498 posts)You try out your material and if it gets a positive response, you keep it in your act. That's what happened with "Drain the swamp." Trump said he didn't like it but he used it at a rally and to his surprise the audience loved it. It became a part of his set from then on.

(22,976 posts)Heres a prime example from the very liberal New Yorker magazine, titled Why Obama Really Might Need a Teleprompter, by Alex Koppelman, October 16, 2012:
I understand how this sounds: an apologia for Obamaor, worse, a hagiography. You all dont understand Obama because hes too smart for you. NoGod, no. Im not even saying that Obama is smarter than Romney; I have no idea which of the two is smarter, and Im not sure that such a thing would really matter. What Im saying is that Obama has a tic seen all too often in intelligent people: I am smart, I know many things. Let me demonstrate to you how smart I am and how many things I know. That may be acceptable in certain situations, but it doesnt work at a Presidential debate.

(25,498 posts)He was reading a list of military conflicts over the last 75 years. The military aircraft that transported soldiers in WWII, the Korean War, and to "the fields and jungles of Vietnam. They delivered a swift and sweeping victory in Operation Desert Storm."
He fucked up "sweeping" so launched into the riff he always does, incorporates the mistake into the speech as if it had been there all along, then does his "like you've never seen before" thing.
I feel weird -- I'm not defending this lunatic! Just that it's no more nutty than usual.

(25,498 posts)The sane ones who know what they're doing, working against Democrats for no good reason. Trump is a shark mindlessly attacking anything that looks like a seal.
You bet he is slurring his words. He says he doesn't drink. Stroke?
Or:
Dysarthria occurs when the muscles you use for speech are weak or you have difficulty controlling them. Dysarthria often causes slurred or slow speech that can be difficult to understand.
Common causes of dysarthria include nervous system disorders and conditions that cause facial paralysis or tongue or throat muscle weakness. Certain medications also can cause dysarthria.
Treating the underlying cause of your dysarthria may improve your speech. You may also need speech therapy. For dysarthria caused by prescription medications, changing or discontinuing the medications may help.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of dysarthria vary, depending on the underlying cause and the type of dysarthria. They may include:
Slurred speech
Slow speech
Inability to speak louder than a whisper or speaking too loudly
Rapid speech that is difficult to understand
Nasal, raspy or strained voice
Uneven or abnormal speech rhythm
Uneven speech volume
Monotone speech
Difficulty moving your tongue or facial muscles

(297,196 posts)Right off the bat I was thinking trump's "dysarthria" was side effects from his purported "adderall" use.
Coping with the Comedown: Managing Adderall Crash
Other side effects of taking the drug at a high dosage include:
severe dermatosis (a skin condition)
insomnia
hyperactivity
irritability
changes in personality
We know trump has #1, #2, #3, & #4
Also from the article.. Fatigue or lack of energy

Nothing about slurred speech. so that could be from something else. Evidently his "doctor" says he's in perfect health.
His Doc says he is in perfect health.
Hope the rest of his patients choose another doctor.
Hugs, Cha!
Cha
(297,196 posts)the #Watergait ramp thing.. and sniffing & slurring..
If that's the criterion for "perfect health" what's bad health?

(58,785 posts)his loyal followers just want to hear their leader be himself and that he really doesn't have to try much at all to please them.
Not that his personality disorder, and perhaps age, isn't showing some worsening/degeneration, but those'd be on top of what you say. He's a pro at delivering to his audience, like any entertainer who's been performing much the same material for decades.

(1,737 posts)No sense trying to decipher nonsense. Won't waste my time. The man is in need of mental help. We should not accept this from the leader of the country. The reason our COVID response is inexplicably dreadful is that the country is being run by a madman and his enablers.
