The "sword of Damocles" that's hanging over Trump's and the Republicans' fall campaigns.

Schools. In particular, re-opening schools in the fall. That would be pre-school through college. It's July, and there's NO national plan or strategy in the works to make sure that the schools can re-open safely.

What you will hear is that, "Hey, kids don't contract the virus. They should be okay.", but here's the problem. Kids don't teach themselves. They are taught by adults, and adults can get the virus. If a school has an outbreak, then the teachers won't come in nor should they.

Also, what contigencies are being made to ensure safety? Will masks be required? Good luck getting a 6 year old to wear a mask all day. Will there be hand sanitizers in all of the schools? Even the poor ones?

I know. Well, it's up to the governors of each state. Yeah? Governors like Abbott and DeSantis? A parent is supposed to trust these assholes? Are you serious?

If there's chaos with the schools in the fall, Trump and the Republcans won't have time to recover. No one is going to care about fucking statues or fireworks over Mt. Rushmore if they don't have a plan for their kids in the fall.

Parents will blame Trump and the Republicans for this failure, and parents vote. Trump and the Republicans will be cooked.

I do not see a good solution. It’s going to suck no matter which way we go. It will be up to the states, individually. The federal government does not exercise jurisdiction over education.

They can issue guidelines. Ensure that the schools have supplies like soap, hand sanitizers, and masks. They can give poor school districts money for extra janitorial services. They authorize funds for tablets and PCs.

In short, there's a ton of things that the Fed govt can do because we know that some states won't do them.

But with Betsy DeVos in charge of the Department of Education, my expectations are low.

Trump will go on TV and share this:

This is the problem for the Governors, Mayors and local officials. The Federal Government under my leadership has given them all the monies that they need to solve the problems.

The left wing un-American leftist Democratic Governors in their failed urban areas did not plan for education of their students.

Our real American successful GOP Governors planned and will allow for home based bible schooling.

But parents when it comes to their children have no sense of humor - I agree, all hell will break loose.

that proves the need for a Secretary of Education. Sadly, we don't presently have one.

And for the record and in my humble opinion, Betsy DeVos is SecEd the same way a squirt gun is a fire marshall.

back to day care three days a week! I didn’t think they were even allowed to open.

Now my coworker has a weird cough that won’t go away. His kid seems fine, but the dad needs to get tested.

I’m so glad we’ve all been working from home for the last three months! There’s no way in hell I want to be near any of them!

and the kids would come to school sick, then stayed out one or two days, then came back and gave it to more kids and their siblings, then they gave it to their friends then they all gave it to their parents...all with no regard to their teachers' health. Teachers are disposable to this country.

Schools will not stay open for long. This will be a costly and dangerous health experiment and the teachers are the guinea pigs. Opening and closing schools is more expensive than opening and closing restaurants when there is a spike and the Fed govt isn't giving states the $$$. Fuck tRump!

What would the political fallout be if Herman Cain or Kimberly Guilfoyle after Trump Tulsa dies? If Trump ignores medical advice about masks and crowds and a big shot dies, How will the public react?
