(29,322 posts)First time I heard of him was from his Golddigger song which was played a million times in the mid 2000s when music channels still showed music videos somewhat. It was also one of the songs played at the reception building in basic training when I enlisted in 2005.

(5,132 posts)Kanye has appeal with younger people.
I'm a fan of his older music. He has not made music that I've liked in years. Young folks still like his music his clothing line and his sneakers are immensely popular.

(5,132 posts)But he is still wildly popular with millennials. Probably because like Trump, hes used social media and shock value to his benefit

(29,322 posts)I know he was big in the 2000s but I don't have many friends right now so I don't know. I'm a millennial and I think he went downhill after he interrupted Taylor Swift. I ignore him on social media and even then he seems more popular in right wing circles like the Candace Owens crowd.
I did hear one of his songs at football games last year so his music probably still does sell but I haven't been into music for awhile.

(5,132 posts)For his clothing and in particular for his sneaker line. Crowds often gather for the launch of the new Yeezys

(5,132 posts)as a successful tool for business. He just signed a 10 yr deal to do a clothing line with The GAP, he has new music coming out soon. This is all for publicity. WE the people, fall for it every time and get our selves in a tizzy. Gotta give it to him.
