Early coronavirus numbers for July are grim

Five days into July, 250,000 new coronavirus cases were reported across the United States, with no sign the numbers will get any better.

Ten states have already notched record single-day highs in the number of cases since the start of the month, according to the latest NBC News tally.

Florida hit that record twice during that time period, with 45,000 new cases. On the Fourth of July alone the state reported 11,400 new cases, a grim number rivaling some of the worst days in New York state when it was a COVID-19 hotspot in April.

Half of the total 200,000 coronavirus cases in Florida were recorded in just the last two weeks.

that our extended family is not hit with the virus this week. There was a wedding. We did not attend. 70+ people, few masks, no social distancing, alcohol, dancing, celebrating.
