(51,303 posts)I asked my hubby who is an admin and he said "We're discussing everything, but we wouldn't put that in writing."
I got the impression from his demeanor that the topic of deaths occurring had and is being discussed.
BGBD
(3,282 posts)it is a certainty.
It's also not just a couple. If schools reopen, there will be thousands of deaths this fall and winter on the 1st order with school exposures and 10's of thousands to deaths on 2nd and 3rd order exposure from those. The vast majority of those 1st order deaths will be teachers.
We had 9 months to prepare for this and thanks to republicans we got nothing done. We were more worried about when hair salons could open than the biggest public health crisis in a century. Thanks to that, we are still stuck in the mud.

(14,608 posts)part of a reopening plan, YOU SHOULD NOT BE REOPENING.
I'm with you on that one Neville.

(31,893 posts)Not to mention, it's completely unsourced. What proof is there that this comes from an actual school?
You know, we make fun of right wingers for being gullible and willing to believe all kinds of bullshit as long as it fits their worldview.
But DUers do it, too - witness this thread.
"if it's on the Internet it must be true!" Can't we grow past that?

(31,893 posts)critical thinking skills.
Seeing the whole story makes it even more ridiculous. Ultimately, there's nothing outrageous or sinister in the school's crisis planning process.
There's really no there, there.

(51,674 posts)Agenda. If I were teaching I would put this on my Power Point presentation and tell the parents to speak with the admin or district if they have any concerns. Put it back on the decision makers! Schools are a business and have a bottom line. Teachers are not a top priority, they are "disposable". I know and most teachers know too.

(51,674 posts)GOOD! Teachers unions are saying NO WAY! Maybe that helped as well as CA shutting down again.
Also, schools in countries that had it under control and had schools reopened successfully just shut them down again(S Korea, Hong Kong, Israel, etc). That will be us, opening and closing to quarantine every two weeks...financially not a smart move for school districts. $$$ is what they care about more than the disposable students and staff.

(49,079 posts)Overall, some areas of Canada are doing very well and many schools could reopen carefully, I think.

(2,200 posts)Students will die, teachers will die.
There is every reason to include templates for these eventualities.
I call that being prepared, as much as it shocks us that we need it.
We need it.
