I have been planning on visiting my Libertarian brother in Charleston, South Carolina. However, I have been havng second thoughts because SC is now third in Coronavirus infections. I told him about it, and he says the virus is overhyped, and hardly anyone wears a mask in Charleston. I told him I am still going, but under some conditions: go to a secluded beach only, I will be wearing a mask, no indoor restaurant dining, and no church attendance. I can't believe hardly anyone is wearing a mask in the nation's #3 coronavirus hotbed.

(980 posts)Its just not safe. There are no secluded beaches. And it sounds like Brother isnt taking this seriously.

(2,128 posts)I'd avoid going to a place which combines a high infection rate and the carefree attitude. There are videos showing how quickly a room can be contaminated with the virus.
Your ability to protect yourself depends in part on the willingness of others to do the same for themselves.

(25,930 posts)Going anywhere that's not strictly needed, like grocery store, doctor's office, is simply not a very good idea these days.
And if your Libertarian brother gets sick, explain to him it's overhyped and he's just fine.

(11,540 posts)Seriously as I am, wearing a mask, using wipes after going out, on groceries, not going inside restaurants and stores just for fun, not getting close to people anywhere.

(32,103 posts)This state is infested with morons, starting with the asshole in the Governor's mansion. We have one of the highest infection rates in the country. It's not safe, nor is it worth the risk to your life.
