Facebook: is it time for a tin hat theory?

There's a fair amount of stuff online about how some of FB's early investors were Russian companies, and a couple of days ago there was an item here in DU about how Mark's stock in the company is "special" in the sense that it allows him to make major decisions all on his own.

Added to that is FB's refusal to use the same rules for political material as for everyone else, and then there are the recent complaints by employees.

So, is it even just remotely possible that 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = tin hat theory?

Founders build-in multiple classes of stock, including those with 'preferential treatment' that may include special powers relating to voting/key decisions. Not knowing anything about FB's org structure, I would still be surprised if there is not a board of directors that zuck has to report to in some capacity.

and I've wondered if Zuckerberg has received assurances from Trump officials that Facebook can remain in one piece so long as it plays nice with the right wing.

I don't understand how Zuckerberg thinks. I used to think he was a decent guy who was just eccentric and a bit awkward (like many tech CEOs, actually), but lately I've been given to more malign theories. And yours could well be an explanation.

twice, and both times was for saying “Fucking Russians” in a comment. What does that tell you?

I forget the context of the first time last December, but the second time, in June, it was a joke response to my favorite restaurant posting that their phone lines and credit card machines were down. Clearly a joke. Put my ass in FB jail for 24 hours, and my account is now on alert status...that’s fucking nuts! Fucking Russians.
