but not. I am scared shitless to send my kid back to school. Still waiting on what the schedule will look like but I'm not very hopeful at this moment that this is a good move.

Unfortunately, remote learning in our community this past spring was an unmitigated disaster. I have a 15-year-old boy who is an exceptional student. His study habits are good, he loves school and has a 4.0 GPA. He struggled profoundly with online learning. It was a combination of poor instruction and communication by teachers, no video communication from any of his instructors, no interaction with his social circle. It was a lot of things. My son was depressed, severely so. It was difficult to get him out of bed some days. We had tears every day… Sometimes his and sometimes mine. There were many days that I didn’t feel comfortable leaving him at home to go to work because he was so sad...so I didn’t. Sending him back to school is obviously a gamble in terms of Covid. Keeping him home it’s a hard choice as well. I’m waiting to hear what the school decides in terms of on site versus online instruction to make my final decision.

Sorry it is so hard for him, and you.

My thought is would he rather risk death or debilitating, life-long heart, lung, kidney, or psychiatric problems from virus now? Or wait for Joe to get things under control?

Also, if he brings virus home to you or other family members, he will really have a tough time with survivor guilt.

Many practitioners are doing tele sessions. Perhaps he could do some psychotherapy to help support him through home schooling?

Just some thoughts for your consideration. For me, as crowded & poorly rub as schools are, coupled with the lack of mask wearing in our area, it's a no brainer.

Also, there are fully accredited online high schools if you don't like what your district offers.

Keep us posted on your decision.

He’s an only child and it is a lonely existence being locked down at home when you’re a teenager.

I will keep you all posted on what happens here in MT. Thanks for your kind words.

But........

What about the school staff?

You have to believe they WANT their job, but chances are pretty good that they want to continue living................
