This happened yesterday and is important information for the senior
citizen age group.
A friend had his 2nd dose of the vaccine at the vaccination center
after which he began to have blurred vision on the way home.
When he got home, he called the vaccination center for advice and to
ask if he should go see a doctor, or be hospitalized.
He was asked to get back to the vaccination center immediately as he
had left his eyeglasses behind.

(11,496 posts)I just got my first shot, Moderna, today, and have an appointment for 3/31 for my second shot. As many here have stated, I feel a whole lot better now I have my first shot, and know I will get my second shot at the end of month. I asked if the second show was a sure thing and was told yes it was.
Two weeks ago I was called to get a shot, but already and an appointment to take by father to his doctor, so I had to tell them I couldn't make it and to keep me on the list. It was a drive through and they could not confirm a second shot. I am glad I had to wait.

(5,593 posts)Have mid range glasses, 2 pairs, that I wear one of all the time, plus distance glasses, both clear and tinted.
Tinted distance for driving, clear distance for my yearly vision tests. Rest of the time, the distant world can stay a bit blurry. Suits me fine!
So damn cheap once you wangle the optician's script out of his hands, so why not?

(208,241 posts)I had my first Moderna shot last Friday and my only reaction was a slightly sore arm - and also a great deal of relief, took a long time for the vaccine to be available in my area of New York.

(7,672 posts)Man those phlebotomists were good!
IDK how they do it, but they squeeze your arm firmly a certain way as the needle is going in and I couldn't feel it at any level whatsoever. Other people had the same experience. My wife didn't really believe she got her 1st vaccine when it happened, ask repeatedly if he was sure he gave her one and even went back after a couple minutes in the recovery area and asked yet again, lol. She got the same guy who gave her the first vaccine yesterday and it was he who remembered. She is such a baby around needles it's ridiculous. That and snakes.
While I only experienced a sore arm 2 days later the first time, I certainly feel the effects of this second vaccine which, so far is just a sore arm and overall ache not unlike the beginning stages of the flu. I hesitated to use the word malaise but that's really what it is, lol.
No nasal or loss of taste issues so far and I've avoided taking any NSAIDs under the theory that the mRNA is teaching my immune system to detect, react and kill any future COVID 19 I may run into. From what I've read, this feels bad is apparently a necessary part of the learning process? So I figure a day or five even feeling this way won't kill me. I'm retired but I feel for young families where both parents must work yet avoid COVID somehow. Hopefully with the Biden Admin now on the case and the new one shot vaccine available, they can get vaccinated much sooner.
