(9,672 posts)You du photographers should work together and produce a book of photos
I would buy one

(14,487 posts)I'd love to have some words from the photographers on how they captured each shot.

(28,139 posts)Oh yes, I'd buy one!
Hey, Earl, DU, as a fund raiser, could share profits with the amazing photographers.

(7,263 posts)This month is especially worthwhile for that, IMHO. Bravo!!!!

(3,206 posts)I sell them to friends and family for $35, and make $7.00 or $8.00 on each one. At the end of the day I pretty much break even. I have them printed and drop shipped at Costco. Costco makes great calendars.

(3,206 posts)We were driving to Alaska in 2016, but got stuck in Clinton, B.C. for a few days due to washed out roads near Dawson Creek. We decided to head east on the Yellowhead Highway to Jasper National Park, and continue our journey from there. We had never even heard of Mount Robson Provincial Park. We couldn't believe our eyes as we approached the peak from the west, and had to pull over to grab some images.

(1,267 posts)I looked for mountains near the Yellowhead Highway, and found Mt. Robson in about five minutes, aided by linked photos. You sure hit it in perfect lighting, and found a great spot along the road to take it all in.
I loved your other photos in your posting today of "More roadscape photos" (https://www.democraticunderground.com/103692996)
It looks like you spend your life on the road, camera in hand, and take time to smell the roses and photograph the sights along the way to where you're headed. Good for you! Thank you for sharing them all!

(58,785 posts)and there are so many here be excited about. In the end one was surprisingly easy, though, which is revealing to me. I love the desert, and I'd love to follow that long and wavy road. The only thing what would be better would be if it were one of the dirt tracks seldom traveled...
Grumpy Old Guy
(3,206 posts)Thank you for the kind words. The long and wavy road is known as Mouse's Tank Road, and is found in Valley of Fire State Park, about fifty miles north of Las Vegas off I-15. It is an iconic view of an absolutely beautiful park. It is well worth your time if you ever go to Las Vegas, but I wouldn't try it in summertime. The temperatures there can reach 115 Fahrenheit.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)young and immortal, we visited the desert in summer now and then, but we've changed since. Even summer has, I guess.
We just "drove" Valley of Fire on Google maps, and maybe we will do it for real on the trip we're planning. Our kind of place. After 20 years in the green temperate southeast and mostly visiting family on the coasts, it's going to be heavily exploring and camping the desert SW, seeing a lot of places we missed when we lived in SoCal. But definitely in cool season. Gas prices are very frustrating right now.
Thanks again.

(28,139 posts)I love these: "Yellowhead Highway," "The road less traveled," &..."The Long And Wavy Road."
There's such great photography on DU!
But I'm often very swayed by subject matter & color. (Must mention: I ❤ mountains.)

(16,739 posts)Sometimes when I'm deciding on a vote, I have to stop and ask myself, "Do I like this one best because it's the best picture, technically speaking, or because it's the place I would most love to visit?" And I'm not alway sure which it is!

(15,080 posts)I did pick 'road less traveled' I think bc it was so different in it's beauty - a pearlescent winter photo.
But there was some tough competition all around! 👍👏
It was hard enough even picking one in each of the original 3 threads! 👏 Kudos, all!
Then having to pick from these!
Congrats, all! I think the most challenging set of photos yet to pick out a winner. 🏆
