(3,357 posts)When reporters questioned Trump about it, he looked straight into the camera and said he had no idea and they would have to ask Michael Cohen because he was the one who paid her. Then Cohen at his hearing produces a blown-up enlargement of the check with Trumps signature. He also testified under oath of all kinds of crimes committed by Trump. A person could start losing patience.

(32,165 posts)He plead guilty to five counts of tax evasion and one count of fraudulent lying to a financial institution. That is why he was sentenced to prison. The Daniels campaign violation was minor and he would not have gone to prison if that was the only crime.

(9,998 posts)If only he had acted like TFG, or cronies like Bannon, Flynn, Stone, etc., then he would be fine.
He was foolish, and believed that he could make a difference, by coming clean, and that TFG would be held responsible. He chose poorly.

(1,059 posts)that. I would truly like to believe that he is contrite.
He seems genuine. And likeable.

(3,433 posts)And there must be overwhelming evidence of Trump's guilt in order to overcome the brainwashed MAGA jury members who will vote not guilty on almost any case against Trump.
Being found not guilty will be worse than not tried, sadly.
Its all there.

(33,473 posts)Like he never directly said "Invade the Capital".
Cohen paid Daniels with his own funds and submitted invoices w/ that expense to the Trump Org, who reimbursed him. They were probably marked something innocuous, like "subconsultant".
Trump just signed checks like he does every month, "trusting" that his employees had vetted the invoices. He knew, Weisselberg knew, Cohen knew, but no one put anything in writing.
Now it just looks petty to go after him, I guess. "America wants to move on", "Melania moved on, why can't you", etc.
