Can you imagine a grandma beginning a thought "I'm glad my grandson shot himself...?

My horror, my condemnation, my grief at my thinking yesterday, “I’m glad my grandson shot himself instead of others?”
Ethan, 19 almost 20, shot himself in the head April 4. Miraculously, he was almost right in front of UNM Hospital, and he’s speaking, texting, doing physical therapy. He refers to himself as Miracle Man, although now he has a brain abscess that they are having trouble treating.
But the idea anyone would think that is hard for me to wrap my head and heart around.
Don’t cry for me.

I hope he heals from his wound and you from your trauma. Be good to yourself as you go through this.

I’m going to my dance/exercise classes-even tool a Masters Class which pushed me and I had a blast. Took a couple of days to recuperate but I feel more endurance than before. I’m eating healthy (I threw out some crap food of my husband’s that I’d binged on) and I’m eating super healthy.
My grandson and I text daily, which still blows me away since we didn’t know if he’d live. He’s getting some good psychological therapy along with physical stuff. He’s doing amazing. Thank you.

A very common reaction in a crisis situation.

A severe personal crisis and tragedy in a country in crisis and full of tragedy.
It is incomprehensible, trying to make sense of it is impossible.

At 71, I’m sometimes able to really be kind to myself.
Republicans, not so much.

Trying to handle a personal, severe, stressful event in a GOP world gone mad.

It is a miracle we are still sane.

Be kind to yourself. You are doing fine.
