(47,322 posts)I haven't decided if I will stop using it. It will depend on what actually happens not just whether his account is reactivated.

(10,032 posts)... he will be allowed back on Twitter. I read it and have an account, but I don't engage with anyone... I find Twitter to be mostly political. Facebook is more my speed. For political stuff, I like DU.

(26,194 posts)Its next to impossible to avoid tweets, however. If it becomes difficult to read content without going to their site, Ill avoid it altogether.

(34,186 posts)hint he was going to do this. It was pretty much a time waste for me anyway and I don't miss it. I am certain every wasted molecule of air that tfg expells with an idea from his rotten corpse of a brain will heard around the world anyway.
If you like, love or need Twitter that is fine. I just do not.

(15,265 posts)You don't have to follow him or anyone who does.
But the real question is who will twitter now censor? If they restrict progressive messaging, there will be no point to interacting with it. It will become just another parlor.
And who else will they unleash? If magats and russian trolls run amok, it won't be worth participating.
And I get the feeling musk won't much care if he loses every progressive voice. It is probably a goal.
But trump alone isn't much of a factor.

(3,779 posts)I will stay here where the egos are at least leaning in the correct direction.
Never joined any social-media fad cum wall-street foible, my daddy said.
But my great-granddaddy professed he was morally innocent of societies' evils because had no truck with those slave-traders at the 'Slave-Traders' Mall'. He only spent money at the mall for coffee and chat with chums and had no role in supporting the evil systems that abounded around.

(58,785 posts)There's a lot of good posted on Twitter. A large portion of the world's best minds and important movers and shakers share their thoughts, findings, doings on Twitter.
I suggest abandoning the deplorable Twitter where both of them, both famously socially challenged, enjoys spending an amazing amount of time. And "liking" intelligent, knowledgeable answers to their megalomaniacal boorishness and chaos-sowing. The bigger the intelligent and eventually perhaps organized resistance grows, the more they won't like it.

(17,878 posts)Then I am done. Just give me a reason.
Actually I think those with huge followings like Obama should strategically wait for the first Trump lie or call to violence that does not get challenged by Twitter to exit (coordinated would be best). Not sure what that would do the the platform.
Would there be an alternative that followers could be ported to? Some of the Twitter employees that have been threatened with termination should consider how to address the continuing need that Twitter represents.
Leave Musk with an empty husk. Of course the stupid bankers that loaned him the money will be the ones to take it on the chin probably.

(9,287 posts)I dont trust the platform(especially after proposed mass firings) and the international players Musk brought in to make the deal.
Musk did not have enough cash on hand and had to turn to foreign investors like Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, Qatar Holding, and Binance, the worlds biggest cryptocurrency exchange. Their total stake is about US$7 billion, reports the Guardian.

Come Friday, your digital blackmailable life may be served to Mister Musk on a plate.

A Saudi prince, who is major Twitter shareholder, says he will reject Elon Musks $43bn offer to buy the company.
Al Waleed bin Talal took to Twitter to say that he was rejecting the entrepreneurs cash offer for the social media platform because it was too low.

(9,287 posts)Musk is buying Twitter with the financial support of non-US investors, including the Saudi Arabian investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud (who is already an investor in Twitter).

Maybe Musk chipped in a bone saw to sweeten the deal.

(13,166 posts)And a pile of Musks money will go down with it.
Social media site use is fickle.
People are on there because its a "place to be".
Once you start to turn that into a negative people will move on to the next thing.
It happens over and over.
Stupidly Musks ego has him buying Twitter high. I think he'll be selling it low.

(46,417 posts)I don't follow Trump on any other social media, and I think the "news" media loves reposting his incoherent rants, just to gain more readers/more watchers.
So Trump will be on Twitter again, possibly. So what.
I'll still ignore him.
