(15,395 posts)Well, there are still a lot of options out there... Coors, for example. Oh, wait. They sponsor Denver PrideFest and also support the Center on Colfax, an LGBTQ+ facility in the city. In fact GLAAD calls them one of the most progressive companies out there due to their pro-gay employee policies, which says a lot about how hard they're trying to overcome their past. Joe Coors co-created the Heritage Foundation, was a huge Reagan-supporter, and part of Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority, but the LGBTQ community was boycotting them so as early as the late 1970s, sexual orientation was added to the company's non-discrimination policy and started supporting AIDS walks, etc.
Better go to Miller. Oh, but there was that $450,000 they donated to the Equality Federation, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group and its general promotion of inclusivity. Wait! Michelob! Good ol' Michelob which partnered with CeCe Telfer, an LGBTQ+ advocate and the "first openly transgender female athlete to win an NCAA title." Busch, Busch Light and Natural Light are all owned by Anheuser-Busch - which also owns Bud, so those are out.
What about non-domestics? How about Corona and Modelo? Nope. Also owned by Anheuser-Busch, and they've both done LGBTQ promotions. Christians need to regroup to think this out at a place friendly to them and not to gays. Chick-Fil-A! Let's all meet there! Wait! Don't get a Coca-Cola product with your sandwich! Coke is lauded by the LGBTQ community as well. Don't even think about sneaking in a Pepsi. Same thing.
My point is, the anti-LGBTQ side has lost. The reason that all of these companies are LGBTQ-friendly is because it makes financial sense. Yes, there was an uproar over this campaign... from a group that's a minority in this country. Similar uproars and calls for boycotts have been made against Coke, IKEA, the Hallmark Channel, JC Penney (they're still around?), American Airlines, IBM, Chrysler and GM, Nabisco, etc.
The companies don't just gain financially by increased sells to LGBTQs but the youth market as the majority of younger people have rejected right-wing religion's hateful message about their LGBTQ loved ones. You know the youth market right? The ones in the age demographic that have most likely already replaced you as these companies' focus for continued financial success?

(38,355 posts)The alcohol or something else?
I personally avoid those sorts of alcohol products, with good reason, but that ad is wonderful.
Sadly, by my own experience, there will be a few in-laws and other assorted relatives at that dinner table who completely freak out and will never speak of cousin/niece/aunt Ana again. They'll avoid grandma and grandpa as well.
Good riddance for now, but the door's always open.

(16,697 posts)I know it's rare that an entire family would be that immediately accepting, but I'm glad they chose to show acceptance. It just felt SO damned good to watch. *sniff*

(4,741 posts)Russian-born entrepreneur Eugene Kashper and the investment fund TSG Consumer Partners of San Francisco.
I don't know much about Kashper, other than how he's been involved in exporting American beer to Russia. However, TSG was featured in a 2016 New York Times article about the competitive advantages of pursuing gender equality in the workplace.
So Pabst is definitely out for the MAGAts.
