Tacopina is basically trying to fire shotgun blasts into the reliability of Carroll's memory.

I won't share all of the NYT updates here...this one basically tells the story. He DID try to suggest Trump didn't know her at all, and Carroll's attorney held up the photo of her with Trump.

Trump’s lawyer is slowly building his line of questioning to lead to the encounter inside Bergdorf Goodman. He’s asking Carroll about what floor of the store they were on, and about how long she was on the escalators.

Tacopina asked for details, such as whether she saw other people around them. Carroll said that she was likely paying attention mainly to Trump, because he’s “a very engaging conversationalist.”

Tacopina is calling the jury’s attention to Carroll’s memory lapses, questioning her about the Bergdorf Goodman encounter. He asked whether she first saw Trump through a revolving door. “I know it’s a revolving door,” Carroll said. Tacopina then displayed a book excerpt that says that it “could have been a regular door at that time, I can’t recall.”

Judge Kaplan appears to be losing patience with Tacopina, Trump’s lawyer. As Tacopina kept asking Carroll similar questions, going back to details, Kaplan interjected, calling the questions “argumentative” and “repetitive.”

Tacopina asked Carroll whether Trump used “lingerie” or another word to describe the gift for which he said he needed Carroll’s advice. We will see whether Tacopina continues to demand such details once he gets to the part of Carroll’s story where she and Trump are in the dressing room.

Tacopenis keeps focusing on how deserted the store was, hoping the jury will doubt her story because there were no witnesses.
But a place where there are no witnesses is where sexual predators get to work. This is what I'd be thinking if I were listening.

Often in tramatic events you don't remember a lot of the general details but instead remember very specific details about the worst part of it.

You forget the fluff and have a searing memory of the painful parts.

They can testify it is completely normal.

Unfortunately rape victims ge brutalied on the stand routinely, which is one of the reasons they won't come forward.

...I do have a few PTSD-worthy moments in my life. I remember the incidents themselves with cinematic clarity but guarantee I cannot tell you what I had for lunch on those days.

It depends on how sympathetic / empathetic the jury is to Ms. Carroll's re-telling of events, her conviction in relating what happened. I don't see Tacopina as a superstar. He's a thug, being paid to be a thug. I don't think the jury is going to expect Ms. Carroll to fully "rise above that," but I think they will look for consistency and conviction in her responses.

Tacopina asked Carroll whether she screamed for help. “I’m not a screamer,” Carroll said. “You can’t beat up on me for not screaming.”

Tacopina said he wasn’t beating up on her, and Caroll replied that women often keep silent about attacks because they fear being asked what they could have done to stop one. “He raped me whether I screamed or not!” Carroll said loudly.

E. Jean Carroll pushed back against Trump attorney Joe Tacopina’s continued questioning of why she didn’t scream when Donald Trump allegedly shoved his fingers into her vagina and then penetrated her.

“You can’t beat up on me for not screaming,” she said.

“I’m not beating up on you,” Tacopina replied. But Carroll wasn’t done.

“One of the reasons women don’t come forward is because they’re always asked, 'Why didn’t you scream?’ Some women scream, some women don’t. It keeps women silent,” she said.

After more back and forth, Carroll’s voice broke with frustration and emotion.

“He raped me whether I screamed or not!”

He's of course blaming the victim. She sounds like she is a very strong witness.
