Can Trump still run in 2024 after his indictment - and can he pardon himself?

From The Guardian:

-snip-
The US constitution does not bar those convicted of a crime from running for president.

There could be a pathway to blocking him, however, through the constitution’s 14th amendment. That provision says that someone cannot hold office if they’ve taken an oath to the United States, as Trump did when he was inaugurated, and engages in “insurrection or rebellion” against the country. There’s likely to be a flurry of separate civil lawsuits in state courts seeking to disqualify Trump on that basis. Some activists have already begun a push to disqualify Trump in Georgia, Colorado, Oregon, Nevada, and California.
-snip-

If he has already been convicted, Trump could theoretically pardon himself, an untested legal idea.

A Trump win would also throw the justice department into uncharted legal territory. While the department has long held that a sitting president can’t be prosecuted, it’s unclear how that would impact a prosecution of a former president that began when he was out of office.

5. This is why the "Garland took too long!" whining is ultimately meaningless

He's running regardless of indictments or convictions, and his cult is still going to vote for him regardless. And since he isn't even indicted for "insurrection or rebellion" those lawsuits are going nowhere - and would likely hinge on SCOTUS even if he was.
The only things that will keep him out of office are death or voters.

If Biden loses Colorado, Oregon, or California he will lose the election.

being convicted and sentenced. Why do you suppose that would happen?

Frankly, I think the likelihood of Trump being elected again is slim to none, even without a conviction.

See, the thing is that he couldn't pardon anyone unless he became President again. That's not going to happen. He might get nominated by a dying Republican Party, but I don't see any chance that he would win the election in 2024. Don't be taken in by his popularity with some Republicans. That is not a majority in any national election. It wasn't in 2020, and it won't be in 2024.

In my personal opinion, I don't think it will happen.

11. I'm actually very surprised he didn't issue a blanket pardon to himself

like, "for all crimes, past or future," before leaving office...just to see what would happen. Maybe he tried and someone told him that wasn't allowed; nothing would surprise me from that cretin.
