I dont want to hear the talking points from the gun lovers.
I dont want to hear about the Second Amendment and the Constitution - not if one amendment is so sacred to you, but the others are not.
I dont want hear about you needing guns to combat a tyrannical government - not if youll vote for someone who says theyd be a dictator and if you say on camera that American needs one.
I dont want to hear about freedom - not if youre for making it harder to vote, not if you want to tell two consenting adults what they can and cant do or who they can and cant marry, not if youre interested in forcing your religion on everybody else.
I dont want to hear about other things used as weapons - considering almost anything can be one, but many things used as weapons werent designed to be weapons. Furthermore, if other things can be used as weapons, other things can be used as self defense.
I dont want to hear about guns being purchased illegally - since guns purchased legally can and are used like this.
I dont want to hear about criminals not following laws and law-abiding citizens - then whats the point of laws, by your logic? Everybody is a law-abiding citizen until theyre not.
I dont want to hear about how guns dont kill people - if they save lives, they also kill. And people will, with guns, and you can kill more people and do so faster with firearms.
I dont want to hear about how more guns are the answer - because if they are, why does this happen in this country, no matter what state and what states gun laws? Why do other countries issue travel advisories to their citizens about them coming here because of our gun laws?
I dont want to hear about mental health - not if you refuse funding for it.
Its good to know I could be a victim of gun violence and countless people will act like my life and this would-be tragedy doesnt matter.
If I had the power to unilaterally repeal the Second Amendment, Id have done so years ago and banish all guns from existence.
Sorry, Im not sorry.

(2,862 posts)that TFG wins and shreds the constitution. These amazingly dumbest of the super dumb shit-for-brains idiots don't realize if that happens there would no longer be any 2nd amendment rights. Here's a book just for them.

(1,907 posts)You couldnt fight a tyrannical government.
Another reality they will never understand.

(106 posts)The hypocrisy and paradoxes of todays Republican majority are almost infinite. Yet, I think deep down, they know this. Logic fails.

(11,690 posts)...it's the GUN that keeps us all "safe." But when an armed mass murderer appears it is the mass murderer who does the killing!

(15,564 posts)It's long past time to demolish the NRA and its influence on politicians. I only hope that the younger generations do a better job at getting the guns out of our society than we did.

(9,465 posts)only as collateral damage to their precious right to have guns. If it's not somebody they loved who was killed with a gun the only thing that makes them cringe is that each shooting might make it more difficult for them to have and keep their guns in the future. Of course that never happens.

(651 posts)That's the biggie.
The republicans short-circuited mental-health help and funds.
Then they made guns a household NEED.
People from other countries think we're nuts. Not so much nuts..just depressed-as-hell. I don't feel that way but many people I've work with..are.

(11,472 posts)rounding up Dems & Libs for internment camps and ovens. I don't know about you, they're not taking me alive. If the orange one takes power only his minions will be able to have guns. This point in our history might be the reason the 2nd amendment was written.

(81,560 posts)My retort usually is some version of - okay, then: if I shut up, can I have my two friends back? (An argument between them grew so heated that she grabbed the gun in the house and blew him away, then hid behind a door and blew herself away - AFTER her terrified mom had heard the first shot and started screaming her name to make sure the worst shed feared - really hadnt happened.)
