U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson delivered a sizzling retort to fellow Justice Samuel Alito Tuesday, questioning his specialized scientific knowledge of abortion-inducing drugs.

Jackson made clear her thoughts about Alitos question in her own questioning of Ellsworth.
You were asked if the agency is infallible, and I guess Im wondering about the flip side, which is do you think that courts have specialized scientific knowledge with respect to pharmaceuticals? she asked.
As a representative for a company that produces pharmaceuticals, she added, Do you have concerns about judges parsing medical and scientific studies?
Ellsworth said she did.

(11,999 posts)"that" being challenging the ability for mifepristone to be available via telemedicine. But the remedy is simple... if an American thinks that it should not be prescribed via telemedicine, then that American should not use telemedicine to acquire it.
Because indeed, the American people have no right to overrule the FDA when it comes to letting people make their own choices.
And if someone somehow feels personally wronged by their mifepristone experience, well, a patient can sue the drug maker, that's when a court might get involved.

(2,157 posts)this boils down to one religion forcing its beliefs on others. Alito totally ignores the fact that some religions say that life begins when the new born breathes on its own.

(16,624 posts)I have no objection to people being religious, but too many religions include a "we're right and everyone else is wrong" component that leads to an assumption that they have the right to impose their rules on everyone else, including those who do not share their views.
That's where I have to draw the line and say, "You think abortion (or whatever else they frown on) is wrong? Fine, no one is saying you have to ever have an abortion (or do any of the other things they frown on). That doesn't mean you have the right to dictate what other people can do!"
I'm pretty sure Alito and Thomas harbor that desire to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else. They try not to be too obvious about it, but that attitude is definitely there, and it makes them very dangerous, imo. I'm not as sure about the other 4 conservatives, but I'm pretty sure Alito and Thomas have that attitude in spades!

(16,624 posts)I'm reserving judgment for now, because I haven't seen as much hard evidence as I have from Uncle Thomas and Sam the Sham. But it wouldn't surprise me.

(1,245 posts)Up to that point I was yelling at the TV/Ass-Alito for the shit that was coming out of his mouth.
She made him look like an idiot, and as a bonus, made my day!

For that matter, it applies equally to environmental decisions about the Clean Water and Air Acts, and climate change.
