In all the excitement of the trial, do not forget that Letitia James might be seizing assets while tsf is sitting in court.

(2,153 posts)Almost as good. A 25 year old poorly maintained 757 with mismatched engines. They risked a flight to Louisiana to get it repainted a couple of years ago. TSF, of course, took the opportunity to grift the rubes.

(115,761 posts)They are almost always leased. Even the engines could be leased. It's possible he does own that one since he's had it for a long time, but you can bet it's got mechanics' liens up the wazoo.

(19,204 posts)that maintenance isn't a big priority on 'Lard-ass One." As long as his gold plaited crapper is in working order, that's all Mango Mussolini cares about.
That piece of junk will probably fall out of the sky before election day anyway. Any aircraft maintenance company that gives Trump credit is crazy, and Trump would definitely skimp on maintenance to save money "for more important things".
Then the MAGAt conspiracy theories will go into overdrive. "Joe Biden had the Air Force shoot down Lard-ass One" I can see the headlines already.

(15,631 posts)A hearing will be held to review the bond before James can take any action, and even then, she will be at the end of the line of many creditors.
Nothing will be happening right away.

I could be wrong, but what I remember about law is that government claims generally get priority over private claims. IRS typically gets first dibs, then any other gov't liens, before private creditors. But IANAL, and yes, it's complicated.
Fiendish Thingy
(15,631 posts)You are correct that the IRS always goes first, but civil judgements go behind leinholders, IIRC.
The good thing is, my understanding is James can force the sale of assets to satisfy the judgements, even if she is at the back of the line.
But not yet.

(24,305 posts)and if decisions can be appealed, it could take years to take any of his property.
Actually, I suspect the reason they lowered the amount of the bond is that there is no equity in any of his properties. There is nothing there to confiscate.
Fiendish Thingy
(15,631 posts)Im not aware of any allowance to appeal the process to appeal, which is what the bond is for, the ability to stay the judgement pending appeal.
Mr.Bill
(24,305 posts)but I guess we will all find out eventually.
One thing for sure is if there ia a way to delay anything, Trump will do it.

(115,761 posts)It's a long, complicated process (which is one reason why appeal bonds are preferable to asset seizure). There seems to be a widespread but completely inaccurate assumption that if Trump's bond is rejected the NYAG can just mosey over to the Register of Deeds office today, hand them some papers and tell them to transfer all of Trump's property to the State of New York. It very definitely does not work that way.
