I went through the last 5 months of my brothers life rarely leaving his side. It was a horrific thing to witness, even being a critical care nurse did not prepare me for this with my brother. Every time I see someone wish someone else this ending I shudder and it all comes back, 22 years later.

but my sister and I had a couple of older friends/work colleagues who died miserable deaths from AIDs. I am glad far fewer will die without the benefit of effective intervention today but it still brings back the cruelty of so many who did. And especially so for those like you who loved and cared for them.

It has been a long time. It is a different sort of thing as I watched my father die of cancer and then my mother, all so long ago.

My brother was the kindest, most talented working musician in and around Houston then he was raped. He was gay but the rape was the end of his life. Thank you for your kind response. I will never quit crying over it but kindness makes me feel a bit better because I had to stay with him to be certain that he was not being ill treated. I could not even imagine how health care workers, being one myself, could be that cruel. Thank you.

The play and TV Series by Tony Kushner has a dying Roy Cohn being tormented by the vision of Ethel Rosenberg, who he had helped convict and execute.

In the series, Rosenberg is played magnificently by Meryl Streep.
