Would you stop supporting a charity because a conservative radio station also supports it?

A friend told I should no longer support Katarina's Club because conservative radio station KFI also supports them. I saw a news report about 8 years ago that a chef in Anahiem was feeding kids who lived in motels and they talked to some of the kids and before Chef Bruno partnered with the Boys and Girls Club to feed these kids they were earing meals from convenience stores and vending machines. That bothered me so I have been supporting them ever since.

They have expanded the program to get families out of the motels by paying the move in costs for them for apartments. The radio station raised over $1.3 million and over 80k pounds of pasta and sauce in a fund raising drive.

I told my friend that my support wasn't contingent on who else was donating but on the work the charity does.

It's the charity we support, not the radio station GenThePerservering Apr 16 #1

As a general rule, I support good charities no matter who supports it.

Every organization needs money. I can’t see depriving children because somebody I don’t like gave as well. We’d never help children if that was the case. That’d be a shame.

What percentage of their donations go directly to their stated mission? To their advertising and fundraising? Their administrative costs and salaries? Is the mission filling a need in the community? And, do they market and promote only to conservatives or operate in a partisan manner? I think all those questions are more important.

I love animals, and have donated in my name to the ASPCA. I'm sure there are some crazy right-wingers that like animals and have donated there too.

What’s the percentage of money that makes it to actually helping people?

I would drop it without hesitation. I am of the mind that anything a Republican supports is unequivocally corrupt.

If i agree with the mission of the charity and the charity efficiently manages resources, I’m OK. But, I sure would keep a closer watch on the charity’s operations after finding large/prominent right wing dollars/donors in the donation jar.
