Whoever will be tRumps VP needs to be discussed...

Last edited Thu Apr 18, 2024, 09:12 AM - Edit history (1)

With tRump surrounded by an avalanche of criminal trials over the summer... if he can't actually be the GOP candidate...then I'm guessing the VP pick will fill the slot.....so, we probably need to think ahead...prepare for the candidate not to be tRump by end of summer ....it's a thought...

Plus, Robert Kennedy Jr may be the opposition????

Just looking at potential scenarios... I don't think tRumps health will endure well under the criminal trial currently and the next few to follow....the summer will be an entirely new adventure in politics...

1. Who's crazy enough to want the VP slot?

MTG immediately comes to mind. She'd be an excellent surrogate for Trump while he's busy in court.

I agree...it's a double edge sword for someone to accept the VP slot....

My daughter has a coworker who is a geeked out fan of the guy. I had heard someone mention the possibility of Kennedy as a VP pick, but I can’t see Trump wanting to compete with the Kennedy name even though Bob Kennedy is a family pariah.

6. Kennedy has claimed that he was offered Trump's VP slot, but has refused it.

I have doubts that he was actually 'offered' it, but he seems to be a hard 'no'.

9. Kennedy could be the Independent candidate on the ballot

thus become the opposition to President Biden by default...Not sure if he will be on ballot for a 50 states...but then maybe???

I just have not heard anything regarding the " what if" possibility wherein tRump is unable to run say for health issues...other option exist but I won't go there now...

so, I don't know if the VP pick fills in if tRump is unable to run....

This is good food for thought ant discussion over coffee...be prepared essentially...not be blindsided...

November is still a long way off and trump seems to be disintegrating before our eyes. I’m sure the powers that be behind him are already working on who they can control and put forward.

7. If I remember the rules correctly, the VP would NOT automatically become the presidential nominee

unless the slot became empty AFTER an election which they had won---- and then they would be sworn in as President on January 20th.... so they would in fact become the President-elect if it happened after the election.

If the presidential nomination is vacated between the party convention and the election, the Republican National Committee would be responsible for choosing a new presidential nominee.
(They could of course choose to elevate the Vice Presidential nominee to the presidential nomination, but I would consider that unlikely. My personal bet would be on Ron DeSantis.)

If the nomination is vacated before the convention, then of course the party delegates would choose another nominee.

(This whole discussion came up here a few months ago, 'what happens if Trump dies'...)

therefore, top candidates. Don't overlook the possibility of Donald Jr, or some off-the-wall choice like Mike Lindell.
