Today in the Washington Post he delivered a long column pointing out that the money Congress doles out for Ukraine or Israel, more than 80% of it stays in the United States. For defense contractors. Our military takes our existing and aging inventory, sends it to Ukraine and Israel, and then uses the money to replenish our inventories with newer and better equipment!
A Win-Win!
And then Thiessen does one more thing. He tracks where those factories producing that newer and updated equipment are located, calculates the jobs and state and local revenue generated there, back to their Congressional Reps. - the ones who voted "No!" on providing those funds.
Example:
The majority of those districts living fat off the federal teat? Republican.

(230 posts)these things that are known as Republican House Representatives or Republican Senators and all the state and local Republican politicians can not be called people.
They are not people in the way we all know people.

Keep doing it every day. It will eventually sink in.

(19,204 posts)That most of that money will be spent on weapons, ammunition etc. that republicans have conveniently located in red states!
The workers in these factories will be making money hand over fist. Republicans are soooo dumb!

(230 posts)their owners will be raking in the profits.
Owners may or may not add a shift but you know those Republican supporters, they'll bleed the life out of the small (low paid , low overhead) staffs they have now.

(22,156 posts)and Boeing, etc., these industries have provided tons of well paying jobs for tons of my friends over the decades. We believe in the defense of this Country, and thus, many support these industries etc. for the jobs and money they pour back into their communities.
Obviously, the likes of Gym Jordan and M. Green have never read up on the industries these procurement bills provide for their voters. They need to be kicked out of Congress and replaced w/ those that will support these bills. I guess they felt that all they need to do is mouth off. Constantly mouth off and do nothing.

While I wish we could get rid of Johnson, I doubt she and Gaetz will manage it.
