ID Op-Ed explaining why MDs are fleeing the state

If you aren’t sure why doctors are leaving Idaho, it’s because you’re not listening to them
Criminalization of doctors providing health care is dangerous for patients, for doctors and for our communities, writes guest columnist Dr. Amelia Huntsberger.
{snip}
Perhaps you missed an early informal survey from the Idaho Coalition for Safe Healthcare showing 75 of 117 physicians surveyed in Idaho answered “yes” or “maybe” when asked if they were considering leaving the state. Seventy-three of 75 respondents cited Idaho’s restrictive abortion laws as the reason.

Maybe you didn’t know that Dr. Lauren Miller told CNN that her greatest fear was “being tried as a felon simply for saving someone’s life.” Dr. Miller is a maternal fetal medicine physician, a high risk pregnancy doctor, who previously lived and worked in Boise. She now practices medicine in Colorado.

Perhaps you didn’t see the survey showing that 22% of practicing obstetricians have left the state since the abortion bans took effect according to a report by the Idaho Physician Well-Being Action Collaborative.

I've got nothing to add to this one, because it explains the issue better than an idiot like me every could.

1. I don't blame them (the doctors). Leave it to the buttheads to explain medical care to these errant politicians,

and unfortunately, it won't go anywhere. What is it going to take, to drive home the point that too much is too much? Before long, I suspect that any sort of medical procedure is going to be out of bounds w/ these states.

Raped gay woman - same
raped tiny child - same thing

The Repugs totally hate smart and independe t women and want to keep us bound up in hormonal flux by being pregnant all the time,.
Whether it kills us or not is no difference to the misogynists in that legislature.

Do you have any pharmacies that will accept “in Jesus's name” to dispense necessary medications?

They brought this in their clamor for political points with the Christofascists. They never think anything through. Just go for the votes and tell their voters they have done what they were asked to do.

And now the unintended consequences are that more women and babies (already born) and fetuses will die and families will be motherless.

Great job GOP. You sick, murderous phucks have done it again.

8. Nurses will be tasked with watching women die who could have been saved

the life threatening pregnancy dying with them. Nurses will be next to leave the state.

ID is the rabid Christian testing ground and it's going to fail miserably. People who moved there for the clean air and stunning scenery are going to realize they can get those things elsewhere, where rabidly misogynist Christian sects aren't running things. The brain drain will happen if these patriarchal nutcases aren't turned out of office and their stupid laws overturned, preferably by amending the state constitution.

Oherwise, it'll be Mississippi, northwest.

I say, so you go live in the woods without tech or science. Catch fish, burn candles, show us all how to live biblically.
