General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI do not fucking care if Trump *imagines* being locked up would be "good" for him
Anyone else would be in behind bars by now for his violations of gag orders and courtroom antics.
Not treating Trump like everyone else just because "Well, he WANTS to be jailed, so that's why we won't do it!" is a piss poor excuse for letting someone shit all over our legal system and make a mockery out of the process. Any other reason for treading lightly with Trump is just cowardice about the political consequences.
Further, I also expect, no matter what fantasies Trump may or may not have about behind-bars martyrdom, he'd be climbing the wall crazy in 30 minutes or less once the reality hit home. It's FAR past time he gets that lesson.

(2,170 posts)Some have suggested that the reason he keeps falling asleep in trial is because he is being sedated to prevent him from doing his antics...
As for myself, I find it simpler to believe that:
1) He's incredibly bored
2) He tunes out when he starts hearing unpleasant things about himself
3) Since he's not allowed to use his phone, or recieves printouts of flattering messages, he's not getting the constant dopamine hits he usually recieves
Think. Again.
(8,363 posts)...his complete disrespect and disregard for the legal system.

(16,786 posts)He did that a lot when he was in the WH when advisers got the better of him. That says he does not want to hear the truth, and that the truth is what HE says it is. It shows just how insecure he is about situations and history.

(21,761 posts)I meant the part you put it quotes:
because "Well, he WANTS to be jailed, so that's why we won't do it!"
Who said that? Is there a cite for that quote?
Silent3
(15,259 posts)It's something I remember hearing a number of times, but my memory of the sources fails me.
I suppose it might not be true, but it's the kind of false bravado I expect from Trump, so I never thought to doubt it.
I get it, I do. Im as angry as anyone but I wont let it override justice. The quote:
Well, he WANTS to be jailed, so that's why we won't do it!"
This does not come across as from tfg but rather someone in the justice system.
One thing to keep in mind is that a violation in one case cannot be applied in another. He has multiple violations that will be addressed Tuesday. I expect the result will be a warning and some 1k ( the max allowed) fines. People will howl at what hes being allowed to get away with
Yup. Its with purpose.
He will violate the order again
No doubt. He has no self control. I expect he will a second time be given fines
Step by step
It will not be until the third time he violates the order that he will be jailed.
This is what kills him. His magat cultists will stay with him no matter what
Moderate pukes? Not so much
They wont vote for Biden but neither for tfg. Independents will flee tfg like the plague and vote Dem up and down the ballot.
Its a tough slog but the right way to do it.
And make no mistake
His false bravado about being jailed is only that
False. He will wet himself when faced with it.
Silent3
(15,259 posts)That was merely a characterization of the apparent general attitude of many in the legal system, as described in that other post I linked to. These are quotation marks were used to indicate "as if to say", not literal transcription.

I don't think this case will last long enough to accommodate an escalating fine schedule. Otherwise, he can affect the jury. So, depending what he does next, he could find himself in jail.

With his Post-pResidency continuous barrage of lies, malicious, and malevolent comments, and screeds (whether actually written by him, or most likely what he would say if he was more articulate); not to mention the damage he caused as pResident!...
Some Consequences have to start somewhere!!!!!
Gah!!!!!

(2,197 posts)'I'll hold my breath until I die, they YOU'LL be sorry!' It is impotent rage combined with ignorance.
My mom was great with kids, she really enjoyed them, but she was a wall when she needed to be. She knew boundaries kept kids safe, and as kids grow, you move boundaries to allow more freedom so kids can grow.
Once saw a kid try the 'hold my breath until I die' threat with my mom. She shrugged, and gave a lesson about physiology: 'Nope, that won't work. You might manage to hold your breath a long time, but eventually, you would faint and start breathing.' Then, she stepped away and engaged in some fun activity. People puppies ALWAYS want to do the stuff others are having fun with.

(1,231 posts)She told him, 'GO AHEAD.'
So he held his breath, and the little scamp hung in there until he passed out. Just like she, the aspiring doctor, knew he would. He was the one who woke up covered in mud from falling in a patch of it when he passed out. Holding his breath that way gave him a headache for a few minutes, but that was enough for him never to make that threat again.
