https://globalnews.ca/news/10435817/meta-ai-facebook-instagram/Facebooks online help page says that Meta AI will join a group conversation if tagged, or if someone asks a question in a post and no one responds within an hour.
Group administrators can turn the feature off.
While that feature can be turned off, Meta AIs more general presence on the platforms cannot, according to a statement from Meta to Global News. However, a spokesperson said there are feedback tools you can use if you didnt like a response received.
Meta AI aims to be a helpful assistant and is in the search bar to assist with your questions. You cant disable it from this experience, but you can search how you normally would to engage with a variety of results, the spokesperson said.

I hadn't known that Meta AI is programmed to pop up in FB group conversations if someone asks a question and no one responds within an hour. I guess that could explain it unexpectedly showing up in a group for parents

but not it claiming to have a child.

does work for Meta/FB AI rival Google.
I hope more and more AI scientists are getting disgusted with what corporations are using AI for.
Editing because I forgot to add the tweet.

Facebooks online help page says that Meta AI will join a group conversation if someone asks a question in a post and no one responds within an hour. So Llama is just a way to make fake activity on FB groups so people check back more often to avoid AI generated FOMO? Will likely come to Twitter too
People will soon pay $$$ for verified human-only products / social spaces.

Meta says you can't turn off its new AI assistant, but if you ask the AI, it'll just lie and make up a way to disable it. Great job Meta.
