I'm not proud

But never in my life have I heard so many people say the word "Pecker" on network TV and watch them struggle every time as every fiber in their being is telling them to stop as it goes against everything they having been taught their entire TV and radio career.
Also, no matter how mature I think I am, I clearly hear 12 year old me, deep in the back of my mind, laughing like an idiot.

In old, old England, people who supplied dry good took bushels of dry goods & parceled them into pecks for sale of smaller quantities.
A peck is about 8 quarts, so milled grains (flour), or barley, or while wheat would be available in quantities smaller than a bushwl.
The root would be similar to your examples of Cooper or Miller. Occupational.

I like learning. And now the infinite amount of stuff I don't know has been reduced by one peck.

The correct answer is "yes".
Mathematicians will tell you that the answer is infinity.
Others will say you can't subtract from infinity because infinity is not a number, but a concept.
I like "yes" better.

When the person with the name is a genuinely good person, we may feel a bit of empathy. "Oh man, that guy is cool, but what an unfortunate name"

When the guy is a total DICK and his last name is Pecker? Where else can you go?
