Quoting losers who destroyed a nation and started a war that killed 65 million people is reprehensible.
To quote John Oliver: "Hitler did ONE good thing. Hitler killed Hitler."

He seems to me to be a normally thoughtful contributor. Also, I think it is fine to quote Hitler when comparing things he said to things other politicians are currently saying.

'We are just going to leave that there'.

Vague but makes the point. IMO

and what Heilman quoted Hitler as saying is that war is like walking into a dark room, you don't know what's going on until the lights are turned on, which is a pretty apt description of war.
I, myself, didn't find anything offensive about Heilman saying that.

Doesn't change the fact that Hitler was a murdering monster.

Stalin is quoted from time to time and he was just as murderous as Hitler was. Just went about in a different way.

To make any point.

Sorry. It’s not been done in my entire life. He nearly destroyed civilization. As I said, even Joe got upset. It’s antithetical to decency.

and it is correct that war is like walking into a dark room, you don't know what's going on until the lights come on, no matter who said it.

I guess it's just a difference of opinion.
