Sauer is arguing that appointing false electors is an official duty of the president, along with communicating with

state officials who determine election outcome.

Why is this even being entertained?

This is advocating an end of our Democracy.

Trump's lawyer sounded completely defeated in that moment. Imagine trying to argue that a president should have immunity for a military coup if he lost the election because it would be an "official act."
