Thats pretty much what Im hearing from several of them. If a former president works to overturn a legitimate election in our country, thats no longer a crime? and theres nothing in the constitution to prevent that?
Well, I guess that pretty much means Game Over.

(12,679 posts)Do they even think that far in advance?
Really?
The Federalist Society yahoos are woefully unwise. Or totally ignore history, thinking once they as authoritarians get power, the status quo means anything at all to whomever holds the ultimate power.
They all think they're going to be in charge of their private kingdoms, forgetting that even as they are hiding their long knife behind their back to make it to the top - to sit in "The Big Chair" - all their "friends" and "allies" (and some family members) are doing the very same thing.
'Good Faith', Laws and Contracts mean little to authoritarians. Laws and Contracts are for the little folk they have authority, and Good Faith goes out the window if it doesn't benefit the authoritarian.

(256 posts)I keep reading Trumps attorney responding to questions with this phrase.
Not an attorney but look how THAT turned out with Trump. I am probably wrong but I always thought impeachment of a President was a political act. Dunno.
I dont understand why a President who committed criminal acts for personal gain while in office can have immunity?
The very idea that Clarence Thomas has not recused from this case makes me wonder if he is removed can the SC revisit cases he was involved with?
Thanks in advance.

(1,065 posts)strangely enough. But that leaves 5-4 for immunity. They are voting the end of democracy. Do they undertand what it's like to be on the court of a dictatorship? They want conservative White power more than they want respect and freedom, and even the power they have acheived as highest court of the land who so far the president has had to listen to.

No, I expect they'll slow walk it so immunity only takes hold when Biden is no longer president. They want this to apply to Trump only, as much as they pretend to refuse to be interested in the case at hand.

(19,115 posts)Granting the president immunity is ridiculus. They ask provacative questions all the time, but I still think this is going to be at worst a 7-2 ruling against immunity.

2. They are just going to kick it back down to Circuit. Gets trump the short term delay he needs
They give immunity and all hell breaks loose.
